How are you doing? Good? How's your mum? Oh, sorry to hear about that. I hear there's a cream for that now. Anyway, this is my second installment of my overrated games guide.
To say 2009 was a strong year for video games would be like saying that 2009 was a strong year the global economy - in short, it wasn't. If it wasn't a sequel, then it was a poorly done reboot. If it wasn't a reboot, then it was a bland copy-cat of another superior game. While the year unfortunately couldn't…

"In my restless dreams, I see that town... Silent Hill"
When the discussion comes up about video games as art, people tend to laugh and think your an idiot. It is hard to treat games as an art form when games such as Mario, GTA, and even the Legend of Zelda are somewhat questionable. Mario is just another retelling of the knight saving…

Please excuse the incoherence of this entry. I’m on a lot of prescription drugs right now due to something turning off my equilibrium. But this is very important to all you hardcore video gamers out there, and you guys must hear about this.
There has been a buzz going on in the game development side of the industry that James Cameron’s production methods on
Avatar, not the film itself but how he went about producing it, may be the first true step in Augmented Reality…

It's really no secret that video games can be over the top in terms of style. You have games where you absorb bullets like a sponge (much like 50 Cent, who is actually a video game character disguised as a rapper) without breaking a sweat, or games where you shoot fireballs out of your hand into walking mushrooms. That being said,
Bayonetta is one of the craziest, absolutely ridiculous, and all out insane experiences I have ever had playing…

Screw film, television, and books. This decade belongs to Video Games - deal with it. The business has shifted from an industry looked down upon by the general population as something for children, to a powerhouse that (in 2007) became a $17.9 billion industry. With such developments as the explosive market of casual games and the video game industry becoming a juggernaut rivaling Hollywood itself, I would say that this decade belongs to the medium that kicked the most ass in…

This Rant is pretty old, but since it still shows my anger so I decided to post it. So remember this is from awhile ago so do take it to personal and still feel free to leave a comment.
Okay here's my rant for the week:
I recently picked up a game informer, and read it, Nintendo won everything in their catagories and 360 lost ever single one, and at the end they ended up calling it a toy system and the 360 an all about hardware system, which is funny since it…

Okay, so I compiled a short list of games that'll offer you some fun for a cheap price. All of these games are or are close to a year old, but hell, they're still fun.
1.) Crackdown
Genre: Free-Roam, Shooter
This game is fu**ing badass. You play as a superpowered cop who can jump to extreme heights, aim with crazy precision, lift cars, kick people down a city block and more. The story is... nothing. There isn't a story. You're just clearing out a city of mob bosses in three…

With the somewhat downbeat stories of
Grand Theft Auto IV and
The Lost and Damned, it's nice to see Rockstar opt for a lighter-toned (although not by much given that this is still a GTA IV game) installment to cap off the GTA IV downloadable episodic content with a celebration of explosions and wackos.

Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony has the player filling the shoes of Luis Lopez, a criminal turned…

Welcome to Video Game Equivalent, where I try to find you an equal to a movie, book, show, or comic in video game form.
Hello there, minions. Today I will be doing a VGE on the popular toy series, GI Joe which has since spawned a cartoon series and a live action movie. "But my sexy lord," you say, "Video game (synergistic novels) are a…

( Note: I already posted this as a forum discussion but since no one responded, I figured, "Ah, what the hell? I'll post it as a blog.")
inFamous hit the stands just a couple of months back, but that hasn't stopped me from pondering endlessly about what a second entry into the superhero franchise could entail. While it will probably be at least two years (maybe even longer if Sucker Punch decides to revisit the Sly Cooper…

I Want The Games To End
For the last few days, Lionsgate has been releasing a lot of material for the sixth installment of the
Saw franchise. As usual, I've been getting pumped up to see what lies ahead for these characters, but I've mostly been excited because this is supposed to be the big finale. According to the official plot released by Lionsgate: "
Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally understood". When I hear…

With the recent announcement of an Asteroids movie I got to thinking, what other classic gaming franchises could make a kick ass movie? I know that most video game movies so far have been piles of dog shit but I still have hope that if the right franchises are done well (and not made by fox) video game adaptions could be really awesome. So I compiled this quick list to display my top 5 choices:
5. Jak & Daxter…

I went to the 2009 Scottish Festival and Highland Games this month. Can I just say that small urge for a fun romp in the barn has now grown by 250%. I mean, I had to take cold showers all weekend because of the wonderful sights I got to experience. Namely young and beautiful men running around on an incredibly windy day in kilts. Everywhere. It was like a weekend of eye-candy for me! I was in a very happy place and cannot wait for next year!
We had a group of four this year (last…

Prototype is an open-world action thriller conspiracy. That sentence pretty much sums up the entire game.
First, as always, the good. The action of Prototype, what it's all about, is pretty damn crazy and chaotic. Never too chaotic, just plain chaotic. The number of people on screen is awesome, usually about 100-200 people on screen at one time, all for you to brutally murder with a number of different weapons. The weapons in this game are bad-freakin'-ass, including an extendable…

Oh, look! A new Volition game! Great, I'll hopefully get what I expect from the Saints Row developers: Gore, language, drugs and nudity!
Nope. Guerilla is SR's estranged cousin that never liked to hang out with him. This game doesn't stray too far from the Saints Row formula, having you complete side-missions to go onto the next story-related mission, but this game takes itself way more seriously than Saint's Row. The story goes: You are Alec Mason, a simple man from Earth looking to…

Damn you, Damnation, for making me play that same mining level over and over and over... and over and over... Well. Onto the review. This game is a sort of "What if?" scenario, and the basic story outline is cool, but overshadowed by random weirdness. The game takes place in the Civil War, but in an advanced, Steam-punk age. Halfway through the war, William Prescott introduces new Steam-punk weaponry, and continues the war 40 years after it should've ended.
So, lets start with the…

The Nintendo Wii has positioned itself as the gaming console for everybody. As it turns out, that includes the Queen of England. Well, sort of. It's not like Her Royal Highness went down to Wal-Mart and bought one with her summer job savings. Rather, she was given a special… Continue
