Introducing Fourplayz

So yeah. HeeeeresJonny here,

Listening to the Spill crew inspired me and a couple of friends to start making our own content. We mostly do comedic video game playthroughs but anything video game related is fair game. Our only rule is that whatever we record involves four people.…

Watch The First Four Minutes Of 'Warm Bodies'

We've all had bad relationships, but this one really bites. Jonathan Levine's 'Warm Bodies,' based on the book by Isaac Marion, is the story of a zombie who falls in love with the girlfriend of one of his victims. I've been going…

Epic Four-Minute 'Amazing Spider-Man' Trailer

Full disclosure: I have not watched this new super trailer for
'The Amazing Spider-Man.' Call me paranoid, but the concept of a four-minute trailer seems far too spoiler-inherent for my taste. I just don't want to be privy to that much information before I walk into the theater. But, as I've said many times, I understand that not everyone has the same trailer proclivities as I do, and I am…

Classic Hollywood Goes Superhero

In Time Review

The Robin Hood story meeting Bonnie & Clyde meeting The Fugitive meeting classic '70s sci-fi noir is a lot better than how it sounds. This movie is actually better than some people are saying because the script and story is solid and it has a lot of really good ideas. The problem with this film is the directing and the editing because it's longer than it should be and the pacing isn't awful but it definitely could've picked it up in order to keep the suspense going for…

PCP (Pop Culture Podcast) Episode 044: Ultimate Comics

First off, apologies for the technical difficulties on the Weekly Dose. What can we say? Technology done goofed. But, that's not the case here. It's reboot season! The comic landscape has been in a state of radical change recently. No doubt, this will likely affect the very future of the industry itself but, we figured we'd take this time to recollect on the past of the industry. More specifically, in preparation of Marvel's reboot of its… Continue

PCP (Pop Culture Podcast) Episode 030: Fantastic Four

Man, we really thought that we were going to have a good, informed discussion about Marvel's first family, the Fantastic Four but, you know us by now. Don't get us wrong, we definitely drop the knowledge on the subject but we always end up falling off the rail. Seriously, we have never gotten so much mileage out of making fun of a villain like Dr. Doom. It's good stuff, I promise. We talk the Future Foundation's dynamics being the basis for…

People @ the Top of Their Game (3/26/11) Part 1

Since I'm trying to build an active community of readers, I do realize the writing-focused posts can be a little cold. I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone (I hate that expression) by personalizing as well as expanding my base with a list I'm calling "People at the Top Of Their Game." Here, I'll be plugging some of my current favorite people in the media at the moment, which'll hopefully balance my criticisms in other posts with insight into what I enjoy. This probably won't be…

My 10 Favorite Films of 2010

I've now been writing movie reviews and doing these "top/bottom" movies of the year for about 3 years now. Out of those 3 years this one is by far the hardest to chose just 10 movies to put as my favorite. This year has had so many great films and some pretty nice surprises. This is the first time I've had to decide between 5 movies in the first 3 months to put in my top 10. Usually that quarter of the year is battling for worst films. There…

Last Days of Comics

This is the last week our artist have to produce their work. Next Friday they will need to provide their completed, peer workshoped comic. They will need to provide an artists info page with no more than the lines specified. They'll need an artist avatar. Last but not least, a signed legal release form is required to put the selection in the Anthology.

We have four collaboration projects this year! Four! No writer was turned away. It is an amazing feat to offer any author an open… Continue

G.I.Joe Unfaithful?

I think faithfulness is very important because im tired of hollywood screwing up comic book characters like venom, galactus, and deadpool just so they can say "oh hey we know we screwed up so lets make a spin off movie where we can get the characters right and milk more money from the fans". However if the director can make it work like with Iron Man or Watchmen or even The Dark Knight then i'll have no problem with it. Very rarely i will accept huge changes like transformers for example (which… Continue

Star Trek Review

Four weeks late, but here's my Star Trek review.

Synopsis:

Figured we all know the story after four weeks, if not before the movie came out, but here's the story.

In the first contiuum, Spock promised to save Romulus from a supernova, but fails, and Nero, one of the last Romulans, gets sent back in time by the black hole created to stop the supernova. When he is sent back, he destroys the ship carrying James T. Kirk's parents, killing Kirk's… Continue

New Years' Movies for Your Viewing Pleasure

In celebration of the New Year, I decided to highlight a few films I liked that are centered on the holiday. As far as films are concerned, the holiday is largely ignored. However, I am pleased to say that the ones that ARE available are fun to watch and some are even excellent films overall. Those listed below are in no particular order.

Review: Four Christmases

Four Christmases Review

So if you’re looking for a Christmas film this holiday season, the cinema doesn’t really have more to offer than Four Christmases this year. No I’m not the type who generally enjoys Christmas movies and neither do I have one that I watch religiously every Christmas. Except Love actually, but that one gets a view any time of the year. So is this… Continue
