We all hear the influence of Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Gone With the Wind many times before
But what of Genre films; such as Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy, and Action
These films are usually dismissed by film snobs. But these simple genre films may actually give much impact then most people realize. Asides from the well-known ones Star Wars, LOTR, T-2, George Romero's Zombies films, The Matrix, I would like to write about films that are not well known, or films that not much people k… Continue
Never usually write blogs in fact this may even a first for me but I wanted to write something that was in my mind for a while now and also signed on to here just today so might as well make an opportunity here.
After watching the newest trailer for "Where The Wild Things Are" this month (which looks awesome by the way), made me think about the original book and what it was like to read it when I was about Max's age and learning what the message of the story was which is about growing up. I rea… Continue

Hey spilios, this is my first time blogging on the site so be gentle i'm a bit of a virgin at this. So anyway to commemerate this occasion i'm gonna start off with a topic near and dear to me, what is up with this summer's movies? Here I was expecting a season of blockbusters designed to blow me out of my socks but I keep getting hit across the face with the cow manure Hollywood calls films. With the exception of a notable few: The Hangover, Terminator, and I know i'll be despised for bringing i… Continue

I'm going to try to keep this review short and to the point.
The Spectacular Spider-Man is arguably the best Spider-Man cartoon ever made. Sure, it has it's imperfections and the animation style may be off-putting to some (I like it myself), but it's just so much damn fun and captures the essence of Spider-Man better than anything that's come before it (and that includes a… Continue

Before we start this is not a review and I suck at English.
I wondered if any of you saw "The Castle Of Cagliostro" the second Lupin III movie and one of Miyazaki's first movies. This movie predates almost all of his others being released in 1979 before he started his own company, Ghibli. It stars master thief Lupin III trying to release a girl from an unwanted marriage from a man looking to unlock the fortune of The Castle of Cagliostro. This is one of Miyazaki's more comedic tails but still h… Continue

Wayyyy back in January I started this project. I'm a huge green lantern fan and I've always wanted a little figure army of lanterns. I knew when blackest night started over the summer that I was going to want to make many of the figures coming out of the new corps in the emotional spectrum. So, I decided to get a head start on making figures. I made almost every pivotal green lantern character that was alive at that time. You can see those pictures here... http://my.spill.com/profiles/blogs/chec… Continue

Well, as you can tell from the title, this is my first blog post on Spill.com. I'd just first like to say that Spill has been a great experience for over the past year and I'm just now starting to get involved in the community. I'll probably write more blogs (if anyone bothers to read them) in the future, but this will post will serve as an introduction.
I'm on the site quite often. Lurking most of the time at peoples profiles, but I'll be happy to chat with you about movies or anything really.… Continue

Alright Spillos,
Prof. IronMan is here to give you yet another look in the fantastic world of cinema in Cutting Into the Scene.
This session will be a bit special as it will be divided in 2 parts. I have always been a fan of Asian cinema ever since I saw my first Anime so many years ago. As I got older, I discovered a whole new realm beyond those given out by Hollywood... Asia. It was filled with intense history and culture so different to the one I knew and was instantly… Continue

Since I hear the word "epic" so much, especially when talking about movies, I have thought of a list of movies that I believe actually are Epic.
Here are my guidelines that I followed: 1) It has to be a movie, but I think a few mini-series can classify as movies. 2) The movie has to take place over a period of years, or the story has to be very rich and grand. 3) As long as the story continues, I view sequels as part of an epic.
I hope you enjoy my list.

I'm not one to discriminate in my Anime viewing, but honestly I seem to prefer light-hearted anime to the darker stuff. I would definitely put Death Note in the "darker stuff" category.
I think that Death Note is the rare series not intended to be deep entertainment, that just came out that way.
It you don't know by now, Death Note is a series about Light Yagami, a young man from Japan who finds a book entitled "Death Note" that will kill whoever's name is written within it. He uses the book t… Continue

Hulk vs Wolverine is a pretty good movie, I'm not too familar with the comics as i'm pretty much a Animated Series guy.
I thought the animation was really good and the best thing is Wolverine gets to freaking stab people!
But that brings me to my first problem, so many times Hulk would get stabbed and sliced and then in the next scene all those cuts and blood will disappear as if t… Continue

So this is my first "review" of sorts. I plan to do more. And while this is a pretty noobish attempt at a review I hope I'll get better as time goes on.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy.
Today we took our midterm exams. After school got out, my friend Matt took me and a bunch of others to the movies. We didn't know what to see (though I really wanted to see Frost/Nixon that didn't go over well with the others), so Matt had the genius idea of seeing "The Unborn". I had heard the uncut review the pr… Continue

Well, it’s that time of year again. People are roasting their nuts on open fires, toy companies a greedily stroking their chins in manners befitting their evil geniusnous and children are pissing themselves in the laps of creepy strangers wearing false beards. Merry Christmas!
It seems as though this is a blog about films and as such I am pretty much required by law to do a list containing my favourite Christmas movies of all time. I managed to resist doing a list of scary films at Halloween bu… Continue
While viewing some topics I see alot of arguments about what is better than sex!
Some things like:
One poster believes that to him BORAT is a better than sex movie. Then I see about 5 replies arguing with that person about how it isn't better than sex and he is wrong.
some thing as someone who things Transformers is a better than sex movie.
I'm tired of seeing other people being PUSHED down by other people about their opinions.
This is Some Ol' Bullshit!
Now this is pretty much like th… Continue
