The awesome film

I don’t think it’ll come as much of a shock that I think this has been a pretty bad year for films. Sure, there was 'Star Trek' and I liked 'Watchmen' more than some internet folks seemed to but things like 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' and 'Friday the 13th' just can’t be overlooked and oh how I wish they could be. I held out hope, however, for one shining jewel in this sea of mediocrity and downright awfulness and that hope lay in the hands of a movie set in South Africa which was odd b…

A few weeks ago, movie fans were blessed with the gift that was District 9. First time director Neil Blomkamp (along with producer Peter Jackson)'s dark action packed sci-fi film (which was based off a short film) became a smash hit and is still currently in this weeks top 10 at the box office. And here we are now with a similar flick, 9. This an edgy sci-fi animated film by another firs…

Welcome to the Indie Sci-Fi!
This movie is the definition of the term "EPIC WIN!!!" Low budget, but a genius director and produce using every penny of it to make something, not only visually amazing, but emitonally too.
The tail is simple yet so deep, it takes you to dark places and you leav…

District 9 Review
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 89%
My rating: Full Price!!

First things first, I love sci-fi. It’s my favourite genre and is the genre with the greatest potential. It lets you down from time to time but then The Terminator happens, or Alien, or Star Wars, or my little heart throb; B…

For those unfamiliar with PC gaming as of right now, there is a game out there by Maxis and distributed by EA called
Spore. It’s pretty much Will Wright’s last project before he retired to focus on other things and can be best described as Sim Everything. You start out as a single cell microb and then evolve your way into a galactic race capable of beaming down onto other planets and abdu…

The premise sounds like any other sci-fi movie, but District 9 puts a twist on its story and makes it unpredictable. I was so enthralled by the documentary style, the violence, the characters (emotionally invested to as well), and the best special effects I've seen in a long time that even these plot holes didn't…

Welcome to Video Game Equivalent, where I try to find you an equal to a movie, book, show, or comic in video game form.
Hey, Spillions! Quentin Tarantino's latest movie delves into the minds of World War II soldiers as they, extremely inaccurately I might add, attempt…

"
District 9" was my most anticipated movie of August 2009. We didn't really know anything about it until recently (apparently, the filming was very hush-hush), so it wasn't on anyone's "Most Anticipated of 2009" as far as I know of.
However, as soon as the
teaser was shown, marketing posters were being placed in stores and outlets dictati…

I consider this summerto be a summerof ups and downs. For most people downs, but there were good and great films this year. It seems the big budget overly hyped films were the let downs. This list is to reconize the best of this summer.
10. Public Enemies Rating: Matinee

Man, where the hell do I start with this movie? Well for one thing I'm glad I finally saw it, took me long enough. Time for a poorly written review!

Well in terms of plot, I really don't wanna spoil anything, cause there's a lot to spoil. (Is letting people know that things could be spoiled count as a spoiler?) But you know the basics, Aliens "crash" on good ol' planet Earth, and conflict en…

The surprise of the summer. Besides seeing some movie posters and the standard trailer, I had heard next to nothing about this film. All I knew going in was that it had aliens and a budget of $30 million.
Was it a political thriller? An action flick? A romance?…

When I wrote
this blog, people kept hounding me on the exclusion of one film. "Where's
District 9?" "Why didn't you put
District 9 on your list?" "Hey yo, where's
District 9, mutha fucka?!" Well fellow "mutha fuckas", when I wrote that list, I hadn't seen

Just one, three-lettered word sums up this movie:
WOW!
This movie was just incredible! Superb film-making, top-notch acting, and effects that put Transformers to shame.
Fuck you, Bay. I can not tell you people just how awsome this movie was! It's truley beyond words. I'm all giddy just typing about it.
A guy is given the job to evict extraterrestrial refugees from a really shitty, slum-of-a-place. The job is more or less going terrible, and our main character is playing wit…

This summer may be looked back upon as the summer that turned it around. It might be the last summer studios and filmmakers throw millions of dollars at the screen for no particular reason. Why? District 9.
Tips for the Producers of Major Motion Pictures
1. Don't Get a Star to be in your movie, just because they're a star.
Today many big-name actors get paid millions of dollar per movie, racking up the budgets to levels beyond what they should be, why do you think "Funny People" cost $75 mill…
