New Image From 'Pain And Gain'

I'll admit, as much as I make fun of the guy, I am excited to see Michael Bay return to the action comedy hybrid (a la 'Bad Boys') with 'Pain and Gain.' The story of two bodybuilders (played by …

Manga review: Bambino!

Howdy folks. Today I'd like to talk about a series I really enjoyed as I have always had a personal interest in the culinary world called Bambino! Now per usual, I have to break the stigma that culinary manga is this

Evil Eggnog of Entropy - Recipe

Right. Since Ambassador Spock goes so good with eggnog, here's a recipe for my Evil Eggnog of Entropy.

Ingredients:

6 whole eggs

1 cup sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup brandy or whisky (I prefer whisky, Jameson, to be specific)

1/3 cup dark rum (Captain Morgan, everyone!)

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 cup sour cream (or sweet cream if you prefer really sweet eggnog)

3 cups milk

Nutmeg to taste

First, pick a… Continue

Ambassador Spock - A Cake Recipe

Several days ago my mother described to me a cake she called “Ambassador” she ate way back in '70s. Her description was quite good and so I attempted to recreate the cake, while adding a Christmas flair to it, since it IS Christmas. It turned out fantastic, mother was happy and praised the outcome, saying it was even better in seasonal variation.

I will therefore share the recipe with you.

I dubbed it Ambassador Spock, because it contains chocolate and cinnamon, things that, according… Continue

A cooking show for SyFy?

Source: io9.com

After the Sci-Fi channel announced it would be be changing its name to SyFy, bloggers everywhere (including here) fired off en masse decrying the move by NBC/Universal as boneheaded, arrogant, and disrespectful to the genre it was trying to describe. To many, the change from Sci-Fi to SyFy was a corporate move to squeeze more money out of the channel by broadening its audience with light,… Continue

Madness Mark's fat-free Julie & Julia review

Let me start the review by saying that Meryl Streep does a perfect job playing Julia Child in this movie. She delivers a performance that portrays Julia as a very charming, but aggressively admirable character willing to go to great lengths to get into cooking. That being said, Julie Powell is not a great character in comparison. Don't get me wrong, Amy Adams does a good job playing the character. It's just that the character is a… Continue

Turkey Soup

I made broth from a turkey carckass last night. The hours started to drag on, and I was just too full of restless energy to get to sleep. Then about 4am or so, a sore throat became apparent.

This was not going to stop me. I had all the ingredients for the soup according to Grandma's recipe, except the carrots. And oh boy did soup sure sound good for my throat. Hungry too. I'd skipped dinner the night before because of a filling lunch.

So, I marched on down to the… Continue
