A Couple of Cold Ones - September 2, 2012

This week the Top 5, Clint Eastwood, that chair, a Jesus painting 'restored', a new script for a Space Jam sequel, and Tweets and Email.

Apologies in advance for this week's show, it has been heavily edited in order to be restored from its original recorded version that was deemed unlistenable by most. Adjusting for this resulted in lower quality audio including a continious hiss throughout the show, we're sorry for the…

Best Sidekicks

Alright, this came up after I saw the Jonah Hex trailer on TV and thought, hey, I guess this means Megan Fox is his... sidekick? Well that's weird.

Is she?

I mean, she is like Marion is to Indiana Jones. But maybe that does mean that she is.

So then I thought, what makes a sidekick?

And then I re-watched a certain film that made the list here and decided to make this list, by the by, top sidekicks:

10.) Short Round…

Lights! Comics! Action!

Attack of the Westerns!

The Western was once the pinnacle of popcorn entertainment. With guns, bad guys, damsels in distress, shootouts, bank robberies, chases and more, they had everything that makes a modern blockbuster successful (and were made with a lot less money). Then, sometime after… Continue

Invictus: Inspiring and entertaining

Invictus tells the story of how Nelson Mandela (Freeman) join South

Africa's rugby team captain Francois Pienaar (Damon) to help unite their

country through Rugby's World Cup and making them world champions. This

is a very enjoyable movie. It has the exactly amount of drama without

falling into something corny. The story is quite interesting, it catches

you from the very beggining and the plot is very well developed and

the addition of original…

Tough Guys Gone Soft: A Cautionary Tale to Being a Hollywood Badass

every once and a while, hollywood receives its share of movie badasses, the rebels without a cause who represent the pinnacle of manliness. there were those like Marlon Brando, James Dean, and Clint Eastwood were able to showcase their acting chops to go along with their brute nature. and there were those like Stallone or Schwarzennegar who could kick ass and looked good infront of a bluescreen explosion. they werent necessarily good actors, but they were entertaining.

unfortunately,… Continue

Invictus: By Thadeus Brown

Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa’s underdog rugby team as they make an unlikely run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match.

I thought Morgan Freeman (SE7EN, The Shawshank Redemption) was really good as nelson Mandela. And we… Continue

CH Gorog reviews Invictus...

All right, I'll say this upfront: I am afraid of Clint Eastwood. His face resembles the mummified version of Imhotep from The Mummy and he's most famous for portraying a gun-slinging badass, so whenever I see a picture of the man, I realize that there are scarier things then death. That being all said I'm not afraid of saying that his recent cinematic outing is something more of a knock-on than a forward pass. By the way, if you're looking for 'sweaty men groping one another' jokes, look at… Continue

So I Finally Saw "Dirty Harry"

After trying to think of some way to contribute to the site I finally found something to write about! I'm only 17 and haven't seen some of the classic, influencial films that some would consider to be essential to any film lover's experience. So, come with me and explore my take on films that have shaped genres, made a shit load of money and been loved by millions of people... and I haven't seen them.

So kicking it off is "Dirty Harry", the action classic that gave the movie world… Continue

Grrrrrrrr-an Torino Review

Grrrrrrrrr. That line says it all. The days of Clint Eastwood grumbling that expressionless sound definetly lets you know some ass kicking is about to take place. In Clints new film "Gran Torino" the 78 year old acts and directs this story of gang life and friend ship. So i'm just going to start this review in the only way that feels right...

This movie is fucking awesome!!!

Dirty Harry fans, man with no name fans. The prodical son has returned. This is what it would be… Continue

Retirement AGAIN, Angelina?? What’s with all these actors retiring?

Back in November of 2008 Angelina Jolie announced that she was going to retire from acting, which seemed to set off a chain reaction of other actors, like Nicole Kidman, following suite. Of course she didn’t stay in retirement all that long but just yesterday she announced she was gonna retire… Continue

The Good The Bad And The Ugly Review.

Sergio Leone is truely one of the masters of film. His epics by the likes of Once Upon a Time in the West and A few dollars more are just two of the many classics Leone has given birth to. He is probably most famous for his Spaghetti western trilogy of "The Man With No Name." The two films leading up to this (A fistfull of dollars and a few dollars more) are both equally great. But the Good the Bad and the Ugly surpass them tremendously.…

It's Officially Okay to Have a Man-Crush on Hugh Jackman

“When somebody can sing and dance and act they’re referred to as a ‘triple threat’….But really, isn’t the guy who sings, dances and acts kinda the least threatening guy you would think of?”

- B.J. Novack

Too true. Yet, Hugh Jackman is the very definition of the term "Triple Threat”. And now after decades of clawing his way up ladder through… Continue

Some Lesser Known/Underappreciated Clint Eastwood Films

With the news of the upcoming Gran Torino (which looks amazing), I've been re-watching all the Eastwood films in my collection lately, not that I ever need an excuse to do so. The man is just talented, not only as an actor, but as a director as well. I thought I'd list some of the more 'overlooked' films of his career. Everybody knows about the Spaghetti Westerns, Dirty Harry, the Every Which Way movies, and most of his work in recent… Continue

Clint Eastwood vs John Wayne

Ok heres a question that has caused much debate amoung my friends and family. Tell me what u guys think. If there was a western where john wayne and clint eastwood were to fight who would win, and how would they win? I've asked Korey, Carlyle, and Leon they all say eastwood with a passion. I'm in the process of askin co-host and Cyrus to see what they think. I also hav to say eastwood. if u want proof watch good bad and the ugly, and fist full of dollars. What do u guys think?…

Jefferoo Whores Out The 10 Greatest Gunmen in Films.

A little intro before I start a countdown, but I have a tremendous hardon for dudes with guns going at it. In a manly, go get us some chicks manner, dur. In America, where many folk have a hard-on for the second Amendment, there's nothing like watching some big dude on roids grab a firearm and right all the wrongs in the world. So uh, strap in, hold on, and I'll spout off my own opinion and you can tell me I'm horribly wrong with obscure internet references at the end.

Number Ten:… Continue
