Leon Leon Reviews "SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS: 1970s Vol. 2" DVDs

Halfway through watching “Saturday Morning Cartoons 1960s Vol.2” I realized that I didn’t watch those cartoons on Saturday mornings at all. I may have been born at the time but I didn’t actually tune in to see them until a few years later when they were in syndication, running weekdays after school on the local UHF station (in D.C. it was channel 20- anyone remember the host, ‘Captain Twenty’? Blond Vulcan in a turtle… Continue

Tommy Worst of 2008: The Year of Not That Bad

2008 was probably one of the best years of movies during my lifetime. We witnessed the rise of the superhero, the continuing success of Apatow & the return of such titans as Rourke, Jones and Downey Jr. This lead me to realize that, while making my worst of the year list, that not all of them were that bad to me. Mind you, I haven't seen what I've heard are the shittiest (Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartans, Mummy 3, 10,000 BC, Love Guru, etc.). Thus, the lower half of the list m… Continue

We all remember those cartoons in which Elmer would shoot Daffy and his beak would turn around, or a piano would fall on Tom and he would get out of it with little stars circling his head. But what if they actually showed the blood that would be the consequence of said actions? Th… Continue

Chilling Sound of Doom Sound of Doom's Pick of the Week

And so begins my new feature overviewing the new releases of the week. Now, I'm like you average people when it comes to writing blog posts: I'm lazy. I like to keep things simple. So for this feature I outline the pros and cons evident for each film, and based on these lists I make my pick of the week. By the way, I usually focus on wide releases and limited releases with significant marketing pushes behind them. Besides, even if I recommend an indie playing in 2 theatres, who's going to take t… Continue

Just post moments where you remember laughing your ass off. A recent one for me is when Korey said as a kid he thought the Swedish Chef had Down Syndrome. I don't remember which issue but one LEOG had Beau talking and in mid sentence he just stopp…

For all the down talk regarding “Avatar”, I still have yet to see a single reason as to why the movie has been taking the beatings it has from audiences that would seem to be talking out of their asses. Whether it’s the fact that an alien race ha…
