G.I.Joe Unfaithful?

I think faithfulness is very important because im tired of hollywood screwing up comic book characters like venom, galactus, and deadpool just so they can say "oh hey we know we screwed up so lets make a spin off movie where we can get the characters right and milk more money from the fans". However if the director can make it work like with Iron Man or Watchmen or even The Dark Knight then i'll have no problem with it. Very rarely i will accept huge changes like transformers for example (which… Continue

Overrated Movie Theater: The Dark Knight...

*Remember, these are my opinions on the movie, not reality changing facts. Although these movies probably do have positives about them, I will not be addressing them, this is about there overlooked flaws. SPOILERS!!!*

On this edition of Overrated Movie Theater, I am taking a look at a film the has been called the masterpiece of comic book movies. Gaining prestige critically and financially, The Dark Knight has been called a dark analysis of disorder and chaos as well as… Continue

The "Where The Wild Things Are" Trailer IMHO

For those who haven't seen the trailer yet, here it is:

This trailer looks awesome! I loved the book as a kid.BUT, like I have said before, this is JUST the trailer. I trust Spike Jonze; he is probably one of the best directors to get for a dark and very odd movie like this. But Jonze's directing style is the least thing I am concerned about.… Continue

My Review of Watchmen

I went to go see Watchmen on opening night, and so here is my review of one of the most anticipated movies of the year...that will more than likely be forgotten by mid-June. Because while I really dug it, a lot of others didn't. And the fact that this is the first real super hero movie since the masterpiece that is The Dark Knight (fuck The Spirit) makes it seem even worse. The bar was raised very, very high, and Watchmen had no way of reaching… Continue

Watchmen review.

Hey guys. You all know who I am. You know I am a film buff and for the past four years a critic and a huge comic book geek and big Watchmen fan so I figure since many of you who know me here on Spill.com know that I'm writing published reviews for the communtiy college paper I write for right now at the community college I am attending right now. So I figure since you all can't see what will be published, I thought I'll post what I wrote for the paper and post here on Spill for my review. So… Continue

Top Eleven Stories From "World War Z" that MUST be in the Movie

As many know, the incredible book called World War Z by Max Brooks is being developed into a movie to be released in 2010. For those who have not read the book or heard of it (SHAME!), it's a compilation of interviews with survivors of the Zombie War. The book really explores human nature and the effects of zombies on world history.

Now let's be honest, they cannot fit every interview into the movie. Even the audio book cut out half of… Continue

Fox gets their Christmas Wish: Watchmen Rights

"A federal judge in Los Angeles has granted 20th Century Fox's claim that it owns a copyright interest in the upcoming film, Watchmen.

The decision was disclosed in a five-page written order issued on Christmas eve. Fox has been seeking to prevent Warner Brothers from releasing the film since February.

Judge Gary A. Feess has also suggested that work on a settlement or an appeal rather than going to trial."

So will this affect the release date?… Continue

What are the worst comic book movies of all time?

This weekend I ran into a friend who remarked that THE SPIRIT was the worst comic book movie ever made. I instantly asked him (not having seen it yet) "Have you seen Elektra?" "No." "The 1990 Captain America?" "No." "Steel?" "Is that the one with Shaq?" "Yes." "Then No." Okay, so maybe it ISN'T the worst comic book movie ever made (I mean, how in the #*$% on a flying saucer could it be worse than BATMAN and ROBIN?) But it got me talking to some friends. What ARE the… Continue

Les Comic Books: WAKE

Hi Spillsters,

Comic books fans, this post is for you! Having learned a lot from LEOG about american comics, I've decided to start highlighting some French books I've been reading and would deserve to finish between your fingers. First on the list: WAKE.

Originally titled SILLAGE, WAKE is first remarkable for the quality of its art. The story follows the adventures of Navee, an adolescent human girl who was shipwrecked and… Continue

Santos Reviews: "Batman & Robin"

You know, I was supposed to write this weeks ago. I even told Korey how this was going to be the start of a new series in which I review "bad" movies from a fresh perspective. However, I never got around to it, but all that's over now. It's time to stay true to my word. And. Here. We. Go.....

Like everybody else, I've spent most of my years hating this movie and yet, I've always been curious to see it again. I got my chance a few… Continue

Santos Reviews: "Secret Invasion" #s1-8

This review contains spoilers, so if you haven't read "Secret Invasion" yet and don't like stories getting ruined for you, do yourself a favor and don't read this.

I'm not sure how clear I made this in my "Powers" review, but I recently got into reading single issue comics instead of just graphic novels/trades (if you want to know why, ask in the comments… Continue

The Night Angel Trilogy

I'm currently reading a fantasy series called The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. It's a three book series, each book released respectively October 1st, November 1st and December 1st 2008. It's Awesome.

Each book is better than the last. I've been carrying the books around with me while at work and christmas shopping, and people keep saying, 'hey I'm reading that - isn't it great!' And it is. It's been a LONG time since a book has made me turn off the tv and my… Continue
