People @ the Top of Their Game (3/19/11)

Since I'm trying to build an active community of readers, I do realize the writing-focused posts can be a little cold. I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone (I hate that expression) by personalizing as well as expanding my base with a list I'm calling "People at the Top Of Their Game." Here, I'll be plugging some of my current favorite people in the media at the moment, which'll hopefully balance my criticisms in other posts with insight into what I enjoy. This probably won't be…

'The Hangover: Part II' Teaser Trailer

The first teaser trailer for Legendary Pictures' "The Hangover Part II" arrived online yesterday, and while it doesn't show much (that's why it's called a "teaser" trailer) it still manages to leave the audience with a…

Hi, Sally Menke

Being a movie buff, you learn a lot about what people do in the industry and a lot of times, these people are the unsung heroes of some of the best work to ever be displayed on the silver screen. Film editor Sally Menke is one of those peoples.

It's crazy to think that…

Zombieland: An enjoyable and entertaining movie

Zombieland is a movie that combines horror (although it doesn't scares), comedy, with a lot of black humor, action and adventure. The story focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss -- but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying' bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have… Continue

Top Ten Killers

Now, it's hard to classify what to call a "killer." One that kills, obviously. But some characters kill once but it's serious, some vow not to kill afterwords, some do it on accident. Some kill for good, some for evil. I hadn't a clue what to classify them as. So I'll explain for each one exactly why they're here. I had trouble, is the point. Without further ado, another list (it's been awhile):

10) Beatrix Kiddo, Kill Bill…

Before you enter the contest, read my Pirate Radio review.

A bunch of good actors on a boat listening to good...no, GREAT music should be a recipe for one of the best films of the year. Yet as I sat there watching this, all I could think to myself is "Do you think it's possible for me to eat my own face?" Thats right ladies and gentleman, this movie FUCKING SUCKS.

I already know people are going to disagree with this...i'm positive. But i'm sorry I can't help it, I hate this movie. And the worst part is; I should love it. Phillip Seymour… Continue

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

When the trailer for this film dropped, most looked at it with a cynical eye. Another unfaithful adaptation of a children's book that will likely be mediocre at best. Personally, I thought it looked cute, and that it might not be too bad, but I in no way thought there was a possibility it could be as good as it actually was. Instead of attempting to be too faithful to the source material, the film takes the book as only a little bit more than… Continue

Zombieland: by Thadeus Brown

A cowardly shut-in named Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is forced to join up with a seasoned zombie slayer named Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) in order to survive the zombie apocalypse. As Tallahassee sets out on a mission to find the last Twinkie on Earth, the duo meets up with Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), two young girls who have resorted to some rather unorthodox methods to survive amidst the chaos. Reluctant… Continue

Rifftrax LIVE Event Review

On August 20th, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett) did live riffing on Plan 9 From Outer Space at a theater in Tennessee. And I got to see it....

...at a theater in Minnesota.

Still, it was a fun evening. The show began with the three riffers taking on a newly found short, Flying Stewardesses. Naturally, because it's severely dated, it was ripe for heckling material. A running gag involved the guys slamming Fort Worth with them… Continue

Actor who starred in the T.V Series Kung Fu, Death Race 2000 and in the later year was Bill in Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 and more recently was Poon Doog in Crank 2 has been found dead in Thailand today.

David was a true cult star because of his role in the television show Kung Fu and his role Frankenstein in Death Race 2000 . His career got back of track a few years ago with his work with Quentin Tarantino on Kill… Continue

'Religulous' Review

For Once It's Okay To Talk About Religion

When religion is brought up as a topic of discussion or debate it is instantly labeled as taboo because most of us “just don’t want to go there”. Bill Maher, on the other hand, isn’t afraid to tackle the topic head on in his film Religulous, a hilarious documentary… Continue
