THE ABC'S OF DEATH REVIEW

(A is for apocalypse, B is for big foot, C is for cutting you and me)

For everyone’s info, this is an anthology of deaths in an alphabetical order, just like the title says. I like how it started with some Sweeney Todd/The Shining opening…

Scary or Die Review

Rating-Some ole' Bullsh*t!!   Poorly filmed, horribly acted, not scary, and almost unwatchable. Scary or die is the clear example of what horror anthologies should avoid being like. I love horror anthologies, so if I say that the film is boring then the film is fucking boring, and I'm quite forgiving of these types of movies.  The only reason I'm not giving this film a "F**K YOU" is because it helped put me to sleep. Goddamn, how do you make a movie like this with blood,…

Batman: Gotham Knight Review

Rating-Full Price!!   Badass is how I would describe Gotham Knight. This anthology of six short animated superhero films is really well done thanks to intelligent writing, kickass animation, and overall good voice acting. These shorts show batman's war against crime, specifically the mob. Make no mistake, these shorts are DARK in both tone and style, this is definitely not campy like that Adam West TV show. If you call yourself a batman fan, you owe it to yourself to buy…

V/H/S Review

Rating-Matinee'   Horror anthologies are my favorite sub genre in film. I just love the well done ones cause they are able to tie together several different stories together, and I don't know why but I just find that so intriguing. The fact that it just screams different to me is probably the main reason I am in love with this sub genre. V/H/S is a horror anthology tied together not only by a main story, but also by the format the stories are presented in: That good ole'…

Creepshow 2 Review

Rating-Matinee'   Creepshow 2 follows the unfortunate pattern of a lot of horror movie sequels, which is that it is good in it's own right, but when compared to the original it's fucked. Creepshow 2 contains good stories, nice haunting visuals, classic dark themes, well written dialogue, and (Mostly) good acting. However, the films biggest downfall is that it's stories aren't as unique as those told in the…

Creepshow Review

Rating-(Low)Full Price!!   Creepshow is an horror anthology created by horror gods Stephen King and George Ramero. With a dream team like that at the helm expectations are naturally sky high, do they meet them? Hell yeah, Creepshow is a kick ass flick. Each of the stories told here are well executed, well told, and well directed, and they are all unique in their own right. And not only that, but their dialogue is well written and delivered well, and thankfully the make up…

Intense First Trailer For 'S-VHS'

Around the Spillverse, we've talked a lot about last year's 'V/H/S.' It was a horror film that combined two separate subgenres, anthology and found footage, into something quite unique. It also featured a collaboration of some of the best up-and-coming talent in horror. The upcoming sequel, 'S-VHS' looks to be an augmentation of…

First Poster For Horror Anthology 'V/H/S'

If there is anything I love more than VHS tapes, it's horror anthologies. Oh look, some talented young horror directors have collaborated to combine these two great passions of mine into one film! Today the first official poster for 'V/H/S' has hit the web and it artfully conveys the film's central conceit. The various vignettes of this anthology horror film are directed by the likes of…

Magnolia Acquires Sundance Hit 'V/H/S'

Given that none of us here at Spill are actually at Sundance this year, we have to rely on buzz from our colleagues to keep us updated on which films we should keep an eye out for later. One movie getting incredibly enthusiastic, and almost universal praise this year is the horror anthology 'V/H/S.' The film is a…

Latest Short Film from 'Trick 'r Treat' Director Mike Dougherty Gets Us In the Halloween Spirit

If you aren’t familiar with Mike Dougherty and his incredible film 'Trick ‘r Treat', a tribute to the magic of Halloween, do not let this month end before you rectify that oversight. 'Trick ‘r Treat' is an anthology film in the tradition of (read every bit as good as) 'Creepshow'. Since 'Trick ‘r Treat' was unjustly shelved…

This Just In..."Superman Motion Picture Anthology"

SUPERMAN ANTHOLOGY (Blu-Ray)

I'm as subject to overwhelming floods of emotion due to nostalgic attachment as the next guy, and what does it for me is often the all-too familiar leitmotifs in movie and television show themes. Of all of…

Last Days of Comics

This is the last week our artist have to produce their work. Next Friday they will need to provide their completed, peer workshoped comic. They will need to provide an artists info page with no more than the lines specified. They'll need an artist avatar. Last but not least, a signed legal release form is required to put the selection in the Anthology.

We have four collaboration projects this year! Four! No writer was turned away. It is an amazing feat to offer any author an open… Continue
