Madness Mark Astro Boy review by Madness Mark

‘They’re going to screw this up’. That is how I felt about western adaptations of anime. Heck, I still feel that way with movies like Dragonball Evolution enforcing that point. But then there are movies like Astro Boy which prove that studios can do something meaningful with a license without completely cow-towing to the fans or selling out to make a quick buck. Astro Boy takes pla… Continue

The Simpsons: Season 21: Bart gets a Z Well, I hate to be that guy who thinks the Simpsons has lost it's luster but ... it's true. This episode starts with Bart and the school students angry at Mrs. Krabappel for confiscating their cell phones and so to retaliate, they get her drunk and fi… Continue

Veridiann "Surreal" Doesn't Even BEGIN to Describe It

Some time ago I found this weird animated short film called Cat Soup, and when I say weird, I mean you will do a double take to make sure you didn't take any drugs beforehand. I know I did. Not to say it's a bad film - on the contrary, it's very cool and entertaining and the animation is superb. It just really takes what you once considered a mindfuck and totally owns it five times over. So without further ado, I present to you Cat Soup. Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH5sacgeY5Q Part… Continue

The Toy Story series is based on one of the earliest Pixar works in 1988. Which has gained much respect as a major milestone in the history of film. PoisonPirate Animation block-head weekly review (27/9/09)

Well it's that time of year again! Fox's animation season premiere's. Although this time around King of the Hill is not around. the series finale ended September 13 2009 and has since been replaced with Seth Macfarlenes Family Guy Spinoff; The Cleveland show. The Simpsons: Season 21: Homer the Whopper Well once more The Simpson's is parodying Hollywood and super hero's, but can you blame them? I don't think they can do anything anymore without being a retread of an older episode… Continue

SastheMan89 “Animation Domination” Season Premieres: Epic Fail

The Simpsons: When are they going to learn that they are OUT OF IDEAS??? I have yet to see anything remotely similar to a good episode last season, and by the looks of tonight’s premier, I don’t hold any hope for this season. Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg (who wrote “Superbad”) wrote the first episode. I had already read a brief synopsis of the episode beforehand, and looked forward in anticipation. I was let down. I’m sorry, but this really was not funny. And Seth’s character was equally as unfu… Continue

Madness Mark The Haunted World of El Superbeasto REVIEW

Let me preference this review by saying that I am a huge animation fan and a bigger fan of adult-oriented animation (what little there is). And by adult, I'm not just aiming along the lines of 9 and Animatrix; I'm talking full-on nudity, cussing, violence, gore, and adult situations. HOWEVER, just because I'm for that kind of animated movie doesn't mean I just want those elements randomly thrown in with… Continue

PoisonPirate 2 FULL SCENES from Princess and the Frog

Warning *Contains Minor Spoilers* Don't say I didn't warn you! It does contain some minor juxtaposition to do with the film. So I'm not going to turn into the Spoiler and am warning you in advance. Scene 1: Tiana Kisses The Frog This is from the famous scene shown in every trailer so far where she kisses the frog, in it's entirety. There are a few unfortunate seconds of some Disney Hannah-montanna lackeys talking at the start but the scene is worth it. Sc… Continue

bloodsarover Ponyo surprisingly good.

I don't think Miyazaki is as much of a god as many animation fans do, but I really enjoy his films. Admittedly my expectations for Ponyo were low, knowing that it was targeted to very young children, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. I'm even thinking about seeing it again... which says alot for me, being poor at the moment. It has all the mainstays of his films: beautiful art and animation, an environmentalist message which may put off some people and delight others, and great imagination… Continue

Dylan Elliott Review: 9

You ever see a trailer for a movie that looks totally bad-ass, only to get to the end of the trailer and see: "Coming December of next year"; or something like that. Well, several months ago, while I was sitting in the theater waiting to see "Coraline", I saw for the first time, the trailer for "9". I wanted September to be arrive right then and now. Instead, I waited six months for the film to arrive. For the past few weeks, I had been growing anxious, waiting for 9/9/09 to arrive. Was this fil… Continue

PoisonPirate A Look at the "Princess and the Frogs" Villain

As every normal person knows it's far more fun to be a villain than a good guy. Sure the films need their Charming good guys and silly cartoon critters but nothing can really compare to a slick, scheming, double crossing bad guy! Well here's a more in-depth look at The Princess and the Frogs villain Dr. Facillier, voiced by Kieth David. I don't know about you but that tiny snippet of Dr. Facillier's big musical number "I Got Friends on the Other Side" already had me tapping m… Continue
