Sacha Baron Cohen & Kurt Russell Depart Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

One of the best things about
Quentin Tarantino's films has always been his casts. He is routinely able to assemble a truckload of phenomenal talent and pull fantastic performances out of even the most unlikely of actors. It was…

First Image Of Christoph Waltz In Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

When Christoph Waltz teamed with Quentin Tarantino for 'Inglourious Basterds,' it was a marriage made in, well, somewhere that allows that sort of awesome marriage of creativity. His performance was absolutely…

First Set Images From Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

I can't even begin to express how excited I am about Quentin Tarantino's new film 'Django Unchained.' The guy's track record is nearly spotless with me and this seems like the perfect followup to 'Inglourious…

Wrong Review Sundance 2012

Saying that Wrong, the new film by French director and lover of all things non-sequitur Quentin Dupieux, is strange does the film somewhat of an injustice. Not because the movie surpasses the limits of strange (although, to be fair, it does), but because strange implies something nonsensical, content that defies explanation or logic. Wrong is a film that, despite being so bizarre, manages to come around full circle and make sense at the end. All its surreal imagery has purpose at the end,…

The Comparison

The other day I was thinking about douchebags. This is a long story. But that's not what I'm writing about. I got to thinking, my favorite director is Quentin Tarantino, a self-promoter of all sorts. One of my least favorites is M. Night Shyamalan, who I believe to be the most self-promoting man in Hollywood.

And I realized something terrible. They're amazingly similar.

First off, before I get into it, Sixth Sense was great. I'll delve later.

Now, both Shyamalan and Tarantino made a… Continue

Oscar Prep: Avatar vs. Inglourious Basterds

Now the buzz I've heard in discussions regarding Oscar nominations, specifically Best Motion Picture, the two that seem neck-in-neck are Avatar and Inglourious Basterds. The reason is that Inglourious Basterds recieved Best Ensemble in the SAG Awards (whose sole purpose has become Oscar predictions) while Avatar got best film. Last year, the winner, Slumdog Millionaire, received ensemble instead of film and went on to get the Oscar for best film. Outside of that, typically SAG Award for best… Continue

Alternative Lord of the Rings Soundtrack - The Tarantino and Scorsese Way!! - The Fellowship of the Ring

We all know about The Wizard of Oz and The Dark Side of the Moon but what about other soundtrack Synchronization to a movie like The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Well I did do that by listening to the Der Ring Des Nibelungen Opera Ring Cycle by Richard Wagner even though Professor Tolkien would roll over his grave if he heard I synch the music up with the films because he hated that Opera, but it felt right for the Norse and Celtic mood of the story.…

Once Upon A Time In Nazi-Occupied France~ My Thoughts on Inglourious Basterds

I'm going to preface this by admitting that I was introduced to the Tarantino universe way later than everybody else. I know that's pretty pathetic, especially with me being a huge film nerd and all...but the point is that, in anticipation of 'Inglourious Basterds', I finally got around to watching some of Quentin's work. A while back I got ahold of Reservoir Dogs and was pretty impressed, and then moved on to the Kill Bill movies. I started to… Continue

The Modern Auteur.

Recently throughout the summer, I've been seeing a lot of action-sci fi films. I said to myself later on, why aren't there more auteurs in cinema these days. I know Quentin released his film, and Wes Anderson has his coming up, but other than that everything is pretty much the same, except for District 9, but saying that only one movie so far out of the whole summer is a pretty sad statement, maybe its studios being lazy and not putting heart and soul in their movies anymore. Or maybe it's… Continue
