Project X Review

An incredibly ambitious party movie that attempts to lay all other party movies to rest with the aid of weed, acid, ecstasy, alcohol, topless girls, adrenaline and high octane fuel that does anything but burn out? Yes, it's true. This is the movie to end all party movies and all parties period! It doesn't slow down, it doesn't let you up, and it's the culmination of the teenage life of all the kids who are now growing up with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Fight Club, Jersey…

The Vow Review

With all of the strikes that the film has against it from its very conception, it still manages to surprise the most cynical man of romantic films. It has Channing Tatum in it, who is clearly not the best actor working in Hollywood. The marketing campaign for this film is marketing it like a Nicholas Sparks movie when it's not actually based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. It's "inspired or based on true events" even though the various details between the real life story and the film's…

Dan The Man's Movie Reviews: Funny People (2009)

I could only wish that everybody was as funny as the title says.

When famous comedian George Simmons (Adam Sandler) is given a second chance at a new beginning, he and his assistant, a struggling comedian, Ira (Seth Rogen), return to the places and people that matter most…including the stand-up spots that gave him his start and the girl that…

If The Great Hollywood Directors Directed some of the Disney Animated Classics? (A WTF?! BLOG)

This has been on mind for quite a while. I always wondered what would certain Disney Animated classics would look if big named and important directors got a hold of them, for good or ill. The following is would be taglines for their posters. Most of these taglines are borrowed from each of the director's own film posters. There are some that I tweaked a bit to fit with the film, others I left alone because it fit the film.

Reviewing Summer 2009 Part VI: The Taking of Pelham 123 and Public Enemies

The Taking of Pelham 123

I’ll just say it: I am really not that bothered about remakes. Everyone keeps throwing this big hoop-la about how remakes “destroy” the original films and how it’s “the death of Hollywood”. Advice to the people who do say those things: shut up. Yes, some remakes are a bit iffy, but then again without them we wouldn’t have all John Carpenter’s The Thing, Steven Soderburgh’s Ocean’s Eleven, Martin… Continue

My take on Public Enemies

Now I know that Public Enemies has been out for quite a while on your side of the globe, but here in Holland we just had the opening night yesterday(lame huh), and I thought I'd share some of my thoughts with you guys. Maybe not that interesting after all the Comic-Con madness, but hey maybe there are some other Dutchies here on the site who might like to hear about the movie.

What really struck me after watching the film is that while it's not really bad (most of it is technically… Continue
