Ranking the Gotham Rogues: The Best and Worst of Christopher Nolan's Batman Villains

Of all the superheroes in all the world, Batman is one of the most iconic and legendary. Why is that? Is it his great fortune? His ultimate humanity? His unique symbol or quest for justice? Or is it partly the fact that he has spawned some of the greatest villains in all of modern literature, never minding their origins in comic book form? Yes, it is safe to say that Batman's rogues' gallery is arguably the greatest in all of comic books simply because each villain has a fascinating thing…

Drive Review

In today's world, it is so hard to distinguish oneself as a filmmaker with a unique story to tell that reinvents the wheel in a way that suits both the casual viewer and the film buff who is constantly looking to be surprised by what cinema can provide for them. That is one of the brilliant things about Nicolas Winding Refn's mind that makes him such a promising filmmaker who has an incredible vision about what movies are capable of. He's been compared to some of the greats including Stanley…

Deceased Celebrities Are Still Deceased!

Still living in 2010 with the factoid column as a report of celebrity death hoaxes hit Entertainment Weekly and caught my eyes. They said that in the past year, the Internet has carried false death claims for Owen Wilson, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, and Morgan Freeman.

I’m never one to believe these things, largely because I don’t have a…

Batman(1989) Still Rocks!!!

Yesterday i made my weekly Best Buy run to pick up some weekend entertainment(at least till sunday when football starts) and i purchased 3:10 to Yuma and Batman(1989) on Blu-ray. I got the Blu-ray book because it actually was cheaper the day i went. So i decided to pop it in this evening (yeah the highlight of my friday is watching blu-rays im pretty cool right). I hadnt watched this for several years, probably not since i was in elementary school (Im in college now). I figured this would not… Continue

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Review

May 28, 2010, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been released. The spectacular picture for the ordinary viewers, a ground for criticizing for the game fans and cinema admirers. The beautiful movie saturated with the Eastern spirit.

First of all, the key character: Jake Gyllenhaal has incarnated the image of Prince. The funniest critique… Continue

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

So, I went to go and see the last film of the deeply missed Heath Ledger. As is normal for me I was accompanied by my 3 closest friends. Together we're kind of the Spill Crew of far forgotton west Texas ;) Back to the task at hand. So I wasn't completly familiar with this film aside from knowing it was the last of Heath Ledger's films.

As I started watching the movie I began to wonder what I had gotten my self into, the only film I had seen from Director Terry Gillam had been Fear… Continue

Severed Thumbs: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

It's been a while since I've done one of these. That doesn't mean I haven't watched any good movies lately, I just haven't felt like writing about them. This movie on the other hand I've received requests to review it (okay, so just one) so here we go; this is The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.

The Riflemans Top Ten Movies of the Decade (first blog post)

Hello everyone, I'm the GumGumRifleman. Now while I am a major fan of Anime, I am also a huge fan of movies and TV. I have always liked to see movies ever since I was a little kid watching Jurassic Park. While I have been through two decades, one of them I was too young to really watch anything and too young to really right anything about movies yet. But I have been wanting to do this for quite a while and now I finally can. This decade brought us alot of amazing movies. Some small, some big… Continue

Christopher Nolan: An up and coming director. A legend in the making.

If somebody were to ask you what director looks to have a legendary career ahead of them the answer would have to be Christopher Nolan. The Dark Knight was a superb way of looking at the famous detective and another way of looking at comic book movies. Memento is a mine-bending backwards mystery. The Prestige is a well shot well acted and well directed movie. Insomnia is another superbly done detective film. Following was Nolans' first movie and his… Continue

Christian Bale: one of the greatest actors of the decade.

Yes Batman finally has a real actor dawning the suit. Now I know y'all won't agree but Batman really was his break-out role. Not to say before he wasn't well known. Before Batman Begins not too many people really knew him even though he was in movies like American Psycho and Equilibrium. Those are 2 great movies. But they're still cult movies especially Eqilibrium. After Batman he really took off. Right after Batman Begins he starred in Harsh… Continue

The Biggest Movie Event of the Year! The Dark Knight, not the Oscars!

Two big things happened today. The first one is that the Dark Knight made over 1 billion dollars. Yes, that's right. It finally managed to do it! We all know bats are blind. The question is do they know the smell of cash? The Dark Knight does. Today, The Dark Knight went over the billion dollar mark worldwide, having officially clawed in $1,001,082,160 to date. Do you think our friends at Warner Bros. are doing happy dances and smoking cigars made of thousand-dollar bills? Think that they are… Continue

In Response to MDS and his take on The Dark Knight

I'm sure a number of people have read what MDS had to say about his opinion of the movie, and some of the users have responded in kind. I was going to, but I only got around to it recently and I want everyone to read what was said on both ends and decide for themselves.

Okay, here goes...

Okay, so... let's go for another round.

This time I've left off the two points that I conceded..

Gordon should have been looking the other way, and Freeman needed more…
