Why Hide it

We are all film geeks, nerds, and buffs of some kind and proud of it so why then is it when it comes to some films we like and others dont we dont say we like them?  Or call them guilty pleasures? if its a film we enjoy watching why do we give them such labels?  Tell me what you think what are your 'Guilty Pleasures' of films what films do you enjoy that others dont why do you enjoy them? and what films do you not enjoy but a lot of other people do? and what is it about these films that you…

The Five-Year Engagement Review

Now I'm not a fan of all Judd Apatow's films. I liked Superbad (2007) and loved Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) with a passion. Then there are his latest films that I hate,…

Two Possible Short Film Ideas!

Hello Everyone,

I have two possible ideas that I would like to make into a short film for the next Spill Dot Con Film Festival. The two ideas are basically one that I think the British Spill members might be interested in doing and the other one is for all Spill members as it can be possibly made anywhere.

A group is made on the website and you can go onto the group for at least a weekly update on the following link, but feel free to continue reading if you wish: …

(Rebecca Black Friday Review) Mediocrity is Fun: or Which Seat Will You Take?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NLjz-ZJmEc

This is my review of Rebecca Black's Friday. I am new to this sort of thing, so if anyone who is good at this has any advice, I would love that. I desperately want to get better. I would like to point out that I do not like the song specifically. I like it in the same way that some people like Troll2. There seems to be a lost in translation type thing with this video.…

What To Look Forward To in … February 2011

February 4

“Sanctum” looks like a movie worth the price of 3D. No stars and a somewhat enticing plot could make for a great experience.  Oh, and having James Cameron’s name in the trailer helps.

The Roommate” could make a decent chunk of change since it has teen stars Aly Michalka, Leighton Meester, Minka Kelly, and Cam Gigandet to its name. How good or thrilling it will be…

You Can't Take It With You: Greater Success, Lesser Achievement

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0e/You_Can%27t_Take_It_with_You.gif

Frank Capra is one of my all-time favorite directors and certainly one of the greats from the Golden Age of Hollywood, when the limited visual effects and camera tricks allowed for the characters and story

of a film to take the forefront and ultimately resulted in some of the

best of the films ever made. Capra is no exception, as films of his

such as It Happened One Night, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington,…

It Happened One Night: Classic Comedy

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/40/Gable_ithapponepm_poster.jpg

Working on viewing the list of Best Picture films, it was only a matter of time before I came to this one. That being said, I’ve only been familiar with it on an accolade basis, as well as the fact that it

features the wonderful talent of Clark Gable in his only Oscar-winning

role (although in my opinion, he got robbed for Gone With The Wind).

Having taken the time to sit down and watch this film, I can affirm

that…

A Cultural Guide To Paddy's Day. BYOB

So here we are again Spilldos... Spilllos... whatever. Another year and another Paddy's Day just around the corner. It's important to remember what it means to be actually Irish 'cause Hollywood has commited another act of cultural Black Face. Or as Leon put it in the audio review: the Irish Birth of a Nation.

Dammit Hollywood... Just, godammit.…

"Micheal Jackson's This is It" Review

Just starting to finally start reviewing movies i haven't done it for so long. I wasn't really planning on seeing it this weekend but caught it with two friends. The funny thing is we sat and waited for the movie to start and for twenty minutes or so we heard taylor swift music playing over the previews of AVATAR and 2012 so you could say, Taylor openned up for Micheal and Kanye didn't mess up the situation.

The experience was pretty good, i've always been a fan of MJ, and this… Continue

Whip It REVIEW!

In watching this film, It never occurred to me that this was Drew Barrymore's debut as a film director. She comes off as a pro with this film right from the start. The film is a great debut by Barrymore. I wasn't too interested in this film's subject matter, but the fact that Ellen Page was starring in this made me take a second look at it. I thought that the film could be good to ok, but I didn't expect to end up actually going for the ride and… Continue

It Might get LOUD Review

I don't normally write reviews, so I can't exactly say i'm deviating from the usual formula, but with a film so seemingly geared towards a particular audience like this, you can't give a straight forward, "regular" review that will satisfy everyone.

So I will split it up into sections based on the "types" of people who will see this movie. These will be based off common sense, and my friends who came with me to see the movie.

But first some small facts… Continue

Music Movies #22: The Beatles - Part Five: Let It Be

By 1970, The Beatles were no more. After 13 albums, 27 Number One singles in the US and UK alone and over a decade of making music, The Beatles split up in a blaze of controversy and lawsuits. All this happened during the filming of their last movie together, Let It Be.

The film is a documentary about The Beatles recording the infamous 'Get Back' sessions, which would later be scrapped in favour of recording… Continue

It Happened on 5th Avenue- A Post Holiday Review

This one's for you Dale

Sometimes it can start with something as simple as a question: "what's your favorite Holiday movie"?

As the years have gone by, I have acquired a small collection of Holiday films and each year as Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself going back to those movies and planning out a schedule of which ones to watch, before

Christmas makes it's final descent.

My Hulk vs Wolverine Review - spoilers -

Hulk vs Wolverine is a pretty good movie, I'm not too familar with the comics as i'm pretty much a Animated Series guy.

I thought the animation was really good and the best thing is Wolverine gets to freaking stab people!

But that brings me to my first problem, so many times Hulk would get stabbed and sliced and then in the next scene all those cuts and blood will disappear as if they never… Continue

The Happening DVD review! (if you don't check out this post you will die in seven days!)

How many ways can I say brilliant? M. Knight does it again! After his smash hit with lady in the water I didn't think he could pull off another PERFECT film such as this one! This movie is about some sort of occurrence in which people stop dead in their tracks and start spouting beautifully artistic soliloquies before taking their own life, all against their own will. The film begins with one of these elegantly crafted sequences followed by a short educational scene, and then descends into… Continue
