New 'Olympus Has Fallen' Poster & TV Spot

Call me crazy, but I'm getting kind of excited for Antoine Fuqua's 'Olympus Has Fallen.' One of the two White House siege movies that we'll be getting this year, 'Olympus Has Fallen' looks like 'Die Hard' in the Oval…

First Trailer For 'Olympus Has Fallen'

It still baffles me that we're getting not one, but two White House siege movies this year; sort of a 'Deep Impact'/'Armageddon' situation. The first of the two to be released will be Antoine Fuqua's …

Sexism Still Strives

While this blog doesn't necessarily focus purely on the movie side of sexism which is so bizarre and infuriating, I've written this blog to reflect on the concerns of sexism and relationship roles all across pop culture. Spill definitely covers sexism very well in particular reviews, but I feel like it can't be stressed enough how movies try to sell positive relationships as being mean-spirited and apathetic. But with all of our technology, I believe our generation can counter against major…

Law Abiding Citizen

The Bounty Hunter: Criminally Dull

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/88/Bounty_hunter_poster.jpg

While a lot of people may disagree with me, I am firm in my opinion that Gerard Butler is a solid talent in Hollywood today. Granted, Gerard Butler hasn’t exactly been featured in the most

thought-provoking, groundbreaking, or theatrically brilliant film, but

he has been an enjoyable actor nonetheless, and has released a host of

highly entertaining films within the last ten years. 300, Law Abiding…

You Can't Fight Fate- My Review Of 'Law Abiding Citizen'

Gerard Butler is the poor man’s Clive Owen. He’s desperately trying to be the next big action star, but he’s got miles to go before he’s anywhere near being labeled with that title. I’ve yet to see a performance of his that really blew me away. But that doesn’t mean I’m…

RocknRolla (2008)

Guy Ritchie doing what he does best.

Thandie Newton and Gerard Butler co-star in director Guy Ritchie's crime thriller about crooks from London's underworld who set out to nab millions of dollars left for the taking when a Russian mobster's real estate scam falls apart. Tom Wilkinson plays a powerful crime boss, with Jeremy Piven and rapper Ludacris appearing as record producers who get strong-armed into looking for a drug-addicted rock… Continue

A Review of Law Abiding Citizen

Law Abiding Citizen is to Action/Suspense movies what a decently good movie is to a genre filled with nothing but clones of the Bourne Trilogy. Oh, wait.

With that being said, one should be clear, much like others of its genre, there are some good things about this movie and there are some bad things. However, unlike most of its predecessors, Law Abiding Citizen manages to override the bad with the good, and what's more, there is a clear shift from good to cliche, which isn't really… Continue

GAMER review

Most people enjoy video games. I know I do. Since I got my XBOX 360, I've been devoting a great deal of my time to HALO 3 on XBOX LIVE, time that I should be spending being more social. But in this dark and disturbing vision of the future, the world of online gaming pretty much destroys our moral judgement. I was going to play HALO 3 after I saw this movie and I don't think I want to play video games for a week.

This is Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor's third film together, their… Continue

Upcoming Sci-Fi/Horror Movies That Might Please The Palate. Mmm, Mmmm Gooood!

ThaShining is an avid film watcher. ThaShining likes films!

ThaShining is a man who loves a good story, great characters, and great dialogue.

I also like long walks on the beach, a good conversation, and a nice meal but that's a different subject all together.

So being a fan of Film (I love you so much FIlm!), I thought it would be nice to share a list of "non-blockbuster" titles that just might be winners this year!

The first film we have…

Joel Schumacher - "A Man More Sinned Against Than Sinning."

Everyone remembers Batman and Robin. And with good reason; it's a travesty. But while much of the worst content, Joel Schumacher has claimed, was introduced by Warner Brothers marketing department, Schumacher has taken all the heat for the film. As one member of… Continue

Rocknrolla: Guy Ritchie at his best

After some failures in his career as a director, Guy Ritchie is back with a fast paced, frenetic movie. A film about a Russian mobster orchestrates a crooked land deal, millions of dollars are up for grabs, and all of London?s criminal underworld wants in on the action. Everyone from a dangerous crime lord to a sexy accountant, a corrupt politician and down-on-their-luck petty thieves conspire, collude and collide with one another in an effort to get rich quick. The story is interesting and the… Continue
