Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Review

With a title like Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, you’re probably thinking the same thing, “wow, this sounds like a dumb idea”. However this idea despite being dumb either makes you think that it’s going to be so dumb that it’s awesome or so dumb to the point that it is bad. The real question is; is Abraham Lincoln so dumb that…

The Hunger Games Review

We finally have another epic story that can take the Harry Potter formula to the next logical step. Harry Potter was a phenomenon unlike any other. It got an entire generation to read, it broke all grounds in terms of what Hollywood epics were capable of, and it…

Let the Games Begin

A few weeks ago, I sat down and read The Hunger Games trilogy, and I was excited to see how well it would translate to the big screen. I got my chance to find out today as I went to the 9:30 showing of the first book, The Hunger Games. The dystopian science fiction action-drama film - which is rated PG-13 for intense violent thematic material and disturbing images - stars…

9 Days of Halloween Reviews - Movie #2: SLITHER

SLITHER

I remember watching Slither a while back, years in fact, and thinking it was a breath of fresh air for the horror/sci-fi genre. Watching it again, and realizing it’s been over four years since this fun monster movie came out, I’ve grown a little less fond of the flick. Nevertheless, I had to throw it into my Halloween picks. It’s good ol’ fashioned monster/comedy mayhem, and it reminded…

30(ish) Days of Fright horror movie reviews: Slither

Slither is a darkly hysterical sci fi/horror/comedy. It stars Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, and Michael Rooker and is written and directed by James Gunn. Though the film had less then ideal success at the box office it was however a critical success (it received an 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer). The film's director James Gunn had previous success with such films as Scooby Doo I, II and the remake of Dawn of the dead.

The film stars Nathan Fillion (as what seemed to me… Continue

Random Reviews: Machete and Scott Pilgrim

Now, I've gotten ridiculously behind on these things, and I would very much like to take a second to apologize for that. Sometimes life just gets in the way.

With that out of the way, I'll start with the film I saw last night, "Machete:"

imdb summary: Three years ago in Mexico, determined Federale Machete (Danny Trejo) is betrayed and set-up by his boss, resulting in his wife and child being murdered by drug kingpin Torrez (Steven Seagal). Now, in Texas, Machete resurfaces… Continue
