If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Still not entirely sure how I feel about Gore Verbinski's 'The Lone Ranger,' but at this point, I'm going in only with the expectation that I will have fun. I must say, this Japanese trailer for the film certainly plays favorably to that expectation. Though a goodly amount of the trailer is the same as the…Continue
Get ready to ride into another trailer for Disney's 'The Lone Ranger.' Armie Hammer slides into the saddle for this take on the classic hero with Johnny Depp accompanying as his faithful companion Tonto. This new…Continue
As some of you may or may not be aware, Channing Tatum has been selected as People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for the year of 2012. It's fair to say that Tatum has been met with both praise and criticism for landing such a place in Hollywood's consciousness. Whether it's people who think that Ryan Gosling was once…Continue

Wow, Disney is really chugging along with the marketing for Gore Verbinski's 'The Lone Ranger.' Just yesterday the poster dropped, and now we've got the first trailer. I'm still interested, just because I love that character, but it does strike me how little The Lone Ranger (…Continue
Just like the actual buccaneers of old, the fifth installment of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise is apparently setting sail into uncharted waters. According to one…Continue
Dark Shadows review
If there is one director that is a Hit or Miss Director that I actually enjoy, it is Tim Burton. Tim Burton is an incredibly talent director, and while he does tend use some of the same actors in films like Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, and tends to make movies that are more style over substance, his films tend to at least be enjoyable for me, whether it has such a good style to the point where I genially enjoy it, or…Continue

You know.... one of the hardest traits to earn as a good reviewer, is to enter a film with an open and clear mind. That can be easier said than done however, especially if you've already heard poor reviews and articles relating to it, you tend to block most of it out, but the key words never fully leave your mind. So was the case with…Continue

This movie is the exact definition of a double negative! Phil Lord and Chris Miller's last film was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, an animated kids' film that turned out surprisingly well (supposedly a lot better than what the title implies). Jonah Hill and Channing…Continue

It was a very low key day at SXSW; I saw one movie at the Paramount.
21 JUMP STREET
It was a big line, but everybody got into the screening. The movie is really funny. I would put it up there with Hot Fuzz, in its level of police comedy. It never got into the level of annoying. If you ever seen the original 90s, you will notice many of the cameos from the original actors.

I'm still not sold on Tim Burton's adaptation of the 70s television vamp drama 'Dark Shadows,' but odds are I will still see it if for no other reason than its cast. Recently, three new images from the film hit the web highlighting both that star power and its elaborate sets. The first image shows us Barnabas…Continue
DISCLAIMER: I would like to say that due to my unfortunate location and inability to see so many of the other big movies that came out this year due to time or place, these are the movies that I've seen this year and that I've enjoyed the most and were released this year.
10. Super 8. Despite the ending being a bit of a whimper, I must admit that this movie was such a great thrill ride of a mystery that pays a beautiful tribute to the classic Spielberg films…Continue
A lot of Austin director Richard Linklater's films follow a sort of meandering path through story structure (if indeed, they have any story structure at all) and sometimes it works and…Continue
Most of the best animated films manage to find a balance that although generally aimed for the larger part at kids, find ways to make concessions to an adult audience. Nobody has been better at this than…Continue
