Watch The 100 Greatest Movie Threats Of All Time

As you sail off into your weekend, we leave you with this delightful compilation of some of the greatest threats issued by some of the biggest badasses in cinema. The video, put together by Harry Hanrahan, covers a wide range of films from many different eras. So many well-written ominous promises of violence, so little time. I love this video. For me it's Ryan Phillippe,…

First Trailer For 'Trouble With The Curve'

It seems that toward the end of every year we are now due at least one Clint Eastwood movie. He's usually directing, if not directing and starring, in something timed just right for awards season. This year, however, Eastwood is merely starring in and producing his requisite annual movie: 'Trouble with the…

The Top 10 Movies I Saw in 2011

DISCLAIMER: I would like to say that due to my unfortunate location and inability to see so many of the other big movies that came out this year due to time or place, these are the movies that I've seen this year and that I've enjoyed the most and were released this year.

10. Super 8. Despite the ending being a bit of a whimper, I must admit that this movie was such a great thrill ride of a mystery that pays a beautiful tribute to the classic Spielberg films…

'J. Edgar' Parody Trailer Illustrates DiCaprio's Oscar Woes

Well, it is officially Oscar season and the last minute campaign films are crawling out of the woodwork. Clint Eastwood, who apparently is now contractually obligated to make one film per year as quickly as he can, has given us a biopic of J. Edgar Hoover entitled, enigmatically, 'J. Edgar.' The film stars…

Random Review: Thoughts on "Requiem For A Dream"

So every Saturday Night for me is "Pizza and a movie" night. Tonight, for some reason I decided I wanted to see "Requiem For a Dream." I've no idea why, but I had to see it, and I've just finished.

First and foremost ... WHAT THE FUCK?! Now, let me be clear, I mean that in a *good* way. I felt like Darren Aronofsky's (and kudos to you for doing this sir) film took my brain, put it in a blender, set the blender to "puree" and let it run for two… Continue

Unforgiven (1992)

Clint Eastwood doing what he does best.

Retired gunslinger William Munny (Clint Eastwood) reluctantly takes one last job -- and even more reluctantly accepts a boastful youth (Jaimz Woolvett) as a partner. Together, they learn how easily complicated truths are distorted into simplistic myths about the Old West. Richard Harris, Morgan Freeman, and Gene Hackman also star.

If you were to stumble upon any known spaghetti-western film… Continue

Gran Torino-Acting at its worst

Wow, after watching Clint Eastwood's performance as "Walt", a racist Korean War veteran who just had his wife die and having the most pathetic family in the world alongside the fact, he hates the new neighbors, I was flabergasted. This guy still has it, seriously, he should have been nominated for best actor just to appreciate his performances seeing as how this is probably his last one and the fact he was just damn good.

But, ofcourse their is a vice to everything isn't there. His… Continue

Changeling Overlooked!

Wow, I watched this movie on my always handy Charter On Demand for 5.99 (WO!) in HD and I was completely in aww of the movie. Maybe I'm one of the few that thought it was an amazing film but I will stand by that bold claim. First off, Anglina Jolie, who I thought was nothing more than a hot b-list actress, totally made me eat my words. She ended up giving a performance of her career (in my opinion).

First off, whoever did the makeup for her… Continue

Changeling: A heart - breaking movie

Changeling tells the story based on actual events about a mother's prayer for her kidnapped son to return home is answered, though it doesn't take long for her to suspect the boy who comes back is not hers. This is a heart breaking drama directed by Clint Eastwood, he manages to transmit the desperation of a mother without being corny or sensationalist. The plot is interesting, convincing and very well developed. It is perfectly set on the late 20's and the early 30's with a very good costume… Continue

Santos Reviews 3 Theatrical Films

Within the past few weeks, I have seen a total of 3 movies at the theaters. I had considered reviewing each one separately, but, given that two are films that I caught late, have instead decided to quickly review them all in one blog post. Here they are in the order that I watched them....

1.

Believe it or not, I actually liked this one. Yes, it's cheesy and has it's fair share of problems, but overall I had a good time watching it. It's… Continue

Captain Funk's Gran Torino Review

I am a sucker for anything Eastwood. To me Clint is the coolest motherf*cker on the planet, and I'd gladly pay full price to see anything and everything that man puts on film. If he made a big screen adaptation of Two Girls, One Cup I'd gladly see it in the theater. That said, there wass obviously some bias going in to see Gran Torino. It was the movie I was most anticipating in 2008 and it came to our local cinema on Friday. Needless to say, I dug the hell out of it. This is… Continue

Gran Torino Review: Eastwood Returns!!!

Gran Torino is a great movie!! Clint Eastwood is just so great on this movie! To me this is Oscar worthy. Has Clint ever won a Oscar for ACTING? This a hard choice for acting now. Eastwood fro Torino , Rourke for Wrestler, Penn for Milk, but maybe in the end. Rourke will have a 70% Chance of winning. Back to the review to Gran Torino, Clint Eastwood stars as Walt Kowalski a Korean War veteran. Kowalski has two objects important to him: the 1972 Gran… Continue

What's Happened to the Man's Man

In recent years, I’ve noticed that Hollywood’s leading men have gotten, on average, less cool. They’ve become less macho, less masculine, less manly. And, it seems as though the man’s man is a dying breed in film.

Now, the man’s man, isn’t quite what it sounds like. He is NOT gay. (Please note, I have nothing against those who are. However, the man’s man is simply straight as can be.)

The man’s man is the embodiment of masculinity. He’s not pretty, he’s not out to get the… Continue
