"Meh"n in Black

A couple of weeks ago, I got lucky and won a couple of passes for a screening of Men in Black 3 for today, and I wasn't about to let that opportunity pass me by. So, today's movie review is Men in Black 3. The sci-fi film from Columbia Pictures - rated PG-13 for sci-fi action and brief suggestive content - stars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin,…

The Avengers Review

Well, after four years of waiting, five movies to help prepare the fans, and seven heroes for fans to be even more excited, The Avengers has finally been released with raving reviews and now receiving the status of the ultimate comic book. And in many ways, it does deserve most of the praise it’s receiving. The Avengers is the movie that Marvel fans all over the world have been waiting for and is definitely worth all of the four years of hype.

Assembled!

I have really been looking forward to today. Today is the culmination of four years of work by Marvel Studios. Today, we get to see The Avengers. The Marvel Studios/Paramount Pictures production, rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, and a mild drug reference, stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett…

Looking Back Before Moving Forward

On May 4, one of the most ambitious movies ever made will be released to theaters here in North America. That's right; I'm talking about The Avengers. This has been a franchise in the making for at least four years, due in large part to the rousing success of the 2008 film Iron Man. When that took off, Marvel Studios decided to bring the core group of Earth's Mightiest Heroes to film.

Now, I've seen all of the movies, and I think all of the reviews are available here. If not, they…

Thumbs Up, Soldier!

I paid a visit to the movies today for the first time in a couple of weeks, and I knew exactly what I wanted to go see. I may have missed out last weekend, but I was bound and determined to check it out this time. Today, I went to go see Captain America: The First Avenger. The Paramount Pictures/Marvel Studios production - rated PG-13 - stars Chris Evans,… Continue

Finis.

Yesterday was my birthday, and I decided to spend a lot of it resting so I could go to a midnight screening of the last film in the most successful movie franchise of all time. Today's movie is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The Warner Bros. production - rated PG-13 - stars an ensemble cast headlined by Daniel Radcliffe,…

Gone Dark

With the 4th of July weekend upon us, what better way to celebrate than to go to the movies and watch stuff get blowed up real good? There's isn't, so that's what I did. Yesterday, my wife and I took in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The Paramount film, rated PG-13, stars Shia LaBoeuf, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whitely,… Continue

Super Nostalgic

Today, I had the opportunity for a rare two-fer for the weekend, and there was no better way to celebrate that than to watch a movie. Today's movie was the Paramount Pictures film Super 8. The film, which is rated PG-13, stars Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning, Riley Griffiths, Zach Mills, Gabriel Basso, Ryan Lee, Noah Emmerich, and Kyle Chandler. This film was shrouded in secrecy from… Continue

Middle of the Class

As another weekend bursts into full swing, another new movie is out for review. Today’s movie is the 20th Century Fox movie X-Men: First Class. The Movie, rated PG-13, features an ensemble cast which includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, and January Jones. This has been a fairly maligned film, because no one has been too sure…

Steady Tide

pirates_of_the_caribbean_on_stranger_tides_ver9_xlg As the Summer Blockbuster season continues in full swing, so do the movies themselves.  Today’s movie hearkens a return to the swashbuckling pirate Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  The Walt Disney Pictures film – the fourth in the successful series based off the amusement park ride – stars Johnny Depp, Pénelope Cruz, Ian…

Mjolnir Beckons

Thor This is one of my favorite times of the year. Temperatures get higher, people get more relaxed, and the summer blockbuster season begins. People may argue that it began last week with Fast Five, but not for me; for me, it began this weekend. Today’s movie is the Marvel Studios presentation Thor. This movie – released by Paramount Pictures – stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston,… Continue

Lane is surprised by TRICK 'R TREAT

Well the day is finally here! I just finished watching Trick 'r Treat and I gotta say not as good as I thought. I rented it at first and then the guy at Blockbuster told me they were selling the movie for $8.00 at Walmart for one night only so I picked it up and did not open it. So then I watched the rented DVD and thought, that was good enough I'll keep the walmart bought version.

The flaws in the film all ly within the story and by that I mean… Continue

The Modern Auteur.

Recently throughout the summer, I've been seeing a lot of action-sci fi films. I said to myself later on, why aren't there more auteurs in cinema these days. I know Quentin released his film, and Wes Anderson has his coming up, but other than that everything is pretty much the same, except for District 9, but saying that only one movie so far out of the whole summer is a pretty sad statement, maybe its studios being lazy and not putting heart and soul in their movies anymore. Or maybe it's… Continue
