My apoligize, this review may be a bit baised as I haven't seen the first 8 films.
This year, childrens films have suddenly turned adultirated, we had Fantastic Mr.Fox with it's humor abit to played to the adults, we had A Christmas Carol scaring the crap out of the youth, We had Where the Wild Things are gearing up children to be Criterion DVD collectors, UP which had a story about c…

Hey guys,
Julian here to fill ya in about a little movie called
Paranormal Activity. (Note: this post may seem outdated, but was written with the Dutch Movie audience in mind and they only get to see the film in November.)
Now I’ guessing that most of you have heard at least a little something about the ongoing internet-phenomenon that is
Paranormal Activity. I mean, even if you don’t enjoy wetting your pants in a stuffy theater full of screaming girlfriends and their male…

This is just a short review that I typed up for my University. Tell me what you think. Plus, what do you think of the movie '9'?

From a hobbit to a rag doll,
Elijah Wood is getting shorter by the minute! Of course, I’m talking about the
Shane Acker’s…

I don’t think it’ll come as much of a shock that I think this has been a pretty bad year for films. Sure, there was 'Star Trek' and I liked 'Watchmen' more than some internet folks seemed to but things like 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' and 'Friday the 13th' just can’t be overlooked and oh how I wish they could be. I held out hope, however, for one shining jewel in this sea of mediocrity and downright awfulness and that hope lay in the hands of a movie set in South Africa which was odd b…

9 is movie unlike anything I have ever seen. It's a very strange movie. But sadly I can't say it's strange in a good way. I mean, visually this movie is one of the best films of the year. But story and acting wise, it's no…

I saw 9 the other night, and after I did, I couldn't help feeling that I should of watched Inglourious Basterds for the fifth time instead.
Usually, I don't watch animated films. That's mainly because I don't like sappy kid movies, and 99.99% of them are exactly that (though I must admit, I loved The Incredibles & Toy Story). When an animated film that does cater to an adult audience comes along, I'll go out of my way to watch it (Heavy Metal, for example.). But ultimately they all fall sho…

A few weeks ago, movie fans were blessed with the gift that was District 9. First time director Neil Blomkamp (along with producer Peter Jackson)'s dark action packed sci-fi film (which was based off a short film) became a smash hit and is still currently in this weeks top 10 at the box office. And here we are now with a similar flick, 9. This an edgy sci-fi animated film by another firs…

Plot Synopsis:
”When 9 (Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good.…

"9", directed by first timer Shane Acker, is a film unsure of itself. Whether that be the fact that it's stuck between adult content
and child-like simplicity in terms of character and plot, or the vague morale message it uses as a weak excuse for its post apocalyptic setting. It's contrived, the dialogue, thankfully spare, drags the film, and plot progression only comes in when they animators need another excuse for a fight scene.
The short film that the movie is based on (they share a t…

So on 9/11/09 I saw the movie 9.

It was a disaster, nawwww just kidding, I really enjoyed it. As most people know this was based on the 2005 acadamy award nominimated film.

It had a dark feeling that reminded me of the Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline (2 films I really loved), but since I'm a nit pick…

9 *1/2 out of **** Spill Rating: RENTAL!
What happens when you get a kids film that is too scary for children but not appealing enough for adults? You get a film that doesn't please anyone. 9 has some mind-blowing visuals and imaginative action sequences but a contrived plot and under deve…

You ever see a trailer for a movie that looks totally bad-ass, only to get to the end of the trailer and see: "Coming December of next year"; or something like that. Well, several months ago, while I was sitting in the theater waiting to see "Coraline", I saw for the first time, the trailer for "9". I wanted September to be arrive right then and now. Instead, I waited six months for the film to arrive. For the past few weeks, I had been growing anxious, waiting for 9/9/09 to arrive. Was this fil…

9 (not to be confused with the musical
Nine, coming out in November), began as a short film of the same name made by Shane Acker in 2005. The plot of the short film is very simple: a sentient doll (referred to as a 'stitchpunk' by Acker) called '9' is being hunted by a mechanical cat beast in a ruined landscape. There is no dialogue, but the audience is shown that the other eight stitchpunks were destroyed by the beast, including 9's friend and mentor, a stitchpunk named '5'. Predi…

District 9 Review
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 89%
My rating: Full Price!!

First things first, I love sci-fi. It’s my favourite genre and is the genre with the greatest potential. It lets you down from time to time but then The Terminator happens, or Alien, or Star Wars, or my little heart throb; B…

For those unfamiliar with PC gaming as of right now, there is a game out there by Maxis and distributed by EA called
Spore. It’s pretty much Will Wright’s last project before he retired to focus on other things and can be best described as Sim Everything. You start out as a single cell microb and then evolve your way into a galactic race capable of beaming down onto other planets and abdu…
