Sploich Reviews Wild Wild West (1999)

Allegedly based on the television show of the same name, which I have never seen, Wild Wild West follows Captain James West (Will Smith) and U.S. Marshall Artemus Gordon (Kevin Kline) as they are ordered by President Grant (also Kevin Kline) to stop Dr. Arliss Loveless (Kenneth Branagh) and his plot to take over the United States government.

I think the first problem with this movie that I have to point out is the…

Sploich Reviews Sleepy Hollow (1999)

As director Tim Burton's first foray into horror, a genre seemed best suited for him, Sleepy Hollow is not a disappointment exactly, but it's not really all that interesting. I like conspiracy, supernatural mysteries and stylized gore in my movies, but there's just something missing from this film to make it stand out in my mind.

Life (1999)

Finally these two all-stars meet up but in a jail.

It's 1932; Ray (Eddie Murphy) is a small-time hustler, and Claude Banks (Martin Lawrence) is a bank teller with a taste for gambling. Stuck in a work camp, they hope to be proved innocent someday -- if they don't kill each other in the… Continue

My rating: Matinee!

This is a movie that defines a generation. Not ‘generation’ misused in place of ‘decade’ but an actual overarching generation. Twenty years from now this film will still be relevant because of the unchangeable aspect of youth drug culture. Everyone fresh from college has taken drugs and if not, has a serious case of experience frigidity. In this way this is… Continue

The Sixth Sense - Review

The Sixth Sense Review

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 85%

My rating: Full Price!!

This is another M. Night Shyamalan film, and another film you have to be careful not to spoil, although the very action of reviewing this is fairly useless as you’ve either seen it or are about to come across it. For those who haven’t seen it, run out there and watch it before some dick spoils it for you.

So on to looking at this… Continue
