Zero Dark Thirty Review

Rating-Full Price!!   Zero Dark Thirty stars Jessica Chastain as a CIA operative who is on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden and follows her efforts from 2001 till that day when the navy SEALs killed his ass. It is a tale that is well told and told with respect. It contains twist and turns that, despite knowing how this was going to end, kept me on the edge of my seat. Along with a great script, terrific characters, a standout performance from Jessica Chastain, and the…

Avatar: The Legend of Korra review - Book One Finale (Episodes 11 & 12)

So here we are, the final chapter in the opening set of episodes to what has been an exceedingly great series so far. And with so many storylines built up, the team had a big task on their hands to deliver in this double-feature finale. And I am happy to report that they have not only done so, but surpassed even their own expectations. Let's first have a quick look at how these two…

Drive Review

In today's world, it is so hard to distinguish oneself as a filmmaker with a unique story to tell that reinvents the wheel in a way that suits both the casual viewer and the film buff who is constantly looking to be surprised by what cinema can provide for them. That is one of the brilliant things about Nicolas Winding Refn's mind that makes him such a promising filmmaker who has an incredible vision about what movies are capable of. He's been compared to some of the greats including Stanley…

The Descendants Review

Whether you love him for his charm or you hate him for his smugness, you can not deny the fact that George Clooney is one of the greatest Hollywood personalities working today. He's been the ideal man for plenty of women over the years and he's proven himself to be a man's man at the same time. Sure he did Batman & Robin but even he admits that it was absolutely terrible but in a way, it was the movie that changed his whole career. While the housewives and the teenage girls got…

The Top 11 LET'S DO THIS!!!!! Podcasts of 2010

The patrons of Spill.com should have expected something like this. We all watch movies, TV shows, and listen to music so it's natural for us to have a "Best Of" or "Worst Of." But what about the one piece of entertainment that makes us different from the others and bond like a community? That's right, Spill.com deserves it's own Best Of list for their wonderful podcasts. For ACOCO, I'm a bit biased with which ones I enjoy the most, and for LEOG it's really, REALLY hard for me to choose ones…

Zack's Top 11 Movies from his Childhood

My childhood was dominated mainly by animated movies and silly, ridiculous comedies that only a kid a could love. It's been a while since I've seen most of these, but being fairly smarter than I was back then, I think I can discern the good films from the bad. So I gauged this list on how good the movies really are, how much I liked them back in the day, and how many times I watched them. I rewatched many of these movies repeatedly as a kid, and never got tired of some of em. I'm still a… Continue

Reminder for any Kaki King fans out there in Spill (yes the very, very, VERY, few of you)...

March 11! Six more days until the "Dreaming of Revenge" album comes out! Seems like she'll be playing in Austin, TX around March 11-15 at 8:00 PM at this place called SXSW (not sure what that stands for. Shame, that Sacramento (my hometown) is the state capital of California but is probably the least art-driven county in our state., compared to places like Los Angeles or the Bay Area. Oh well, maybe next year or I'm gonna have to catch the SF show March 25.

I'll try and rip some of… Continue
