It was boom or bust at the Friday box office.

Universal's "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," directed by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, grossed an estimated $13.8 million from 3,204 runs on Friday to win the day on the strength of males and an aggressive marketing campaign.

The critically acclaimed “Golden Army,” which should win the weekend and open north of $30 million, outpaced the $8.6 million earned by del Toro’s 2004 “Hellboy” on its first Friday.

A Movie to Retch By: Sextette

Based on a 1961 sex comedy stage play written by the notoriously raunchy funny lady Mae West, Sextette is the tale of a 28 year-old blonde bombshell actress named Marlo Manners, known as the “Sexiest Woman on Earth”, and her constantly foiled attempts to consummate her wedding to her sixth husband, Sir Michael Barrington, during their honeymoon in a bustling hotel that is also hosting a meeting of world leaders. Throw in a subplot about an audio tape containing Marlo's steamy memoirs –… Continue

A Defensive View Point: Tim Burton Films

Oh I can hear the complaints roaring in. "Oh, well you're just a goth kid who likes to shop at Hot Topic and complain about the world's pointlessness and how Marylin Manson is a the dark lord prince of truth and knowledge and blah blah Gothy McBlackclothing blah blah" and so on. Well, to those who judge me as this without even a moment's look at this article...that's slightly fair. I've seen crazy Tim Burton fans. I'm in high school and I see at least… Continue

'Sopranos' Movie Coming?

Source: Variety

Customarily following the success of the SEX AND THE CITY movie (still hate all of you guys that saw that, by the way), there has been some more talk about a big screen version of The Sopranos. The news of this comes via an announcement that HBO has green-lit three new drama pilots. Of course, Chase has gone on record several times saying that the show was behind him. But I mean, of course these guys want a SOPRANOS movie. That tv-series was consistently brilliant,… Continue

Who's the Best Bat Babe?

One of the many reasons why I love the Batman series so much is because the movies aren’t over-sexed. Sure, there are plenty of ladies in the Batman movies (Bruce is quite a playboy), but the relationships are never really the center of the storylines. If they are, they aren’t played up on the screen like amateur porn. Crime first, ladies later. With The Dark Knight… Continue

A Look Back on the Films of Batman: BATMAN (1966)

With the new Batman movie: The Dark Knight coming out soon, its time for me to look back on the past Batman movies starting from the campy years of 1966 to the modern era in 2005. As close as it is, Batman is my second favorite superhero with just being close to Spider-Man. Batman has been through many changes and transformations in the film media for the best and for the worst. So without further ado, here is my view on the last Batman movies, leading up to The Dark… Continue

Warner Bros to Hold a Superhero Movie Summit with DC Comics

Taking their cue from Marvel's recent success at the movie house, Warner Brothers is planning some intense meetings with comics publisher DC--whom the WB owns. They’re having high-level, super secret get-togethers to cement a master plan for comic book movies based on DC's huge stable of superhero characters.

Reports say Warner Bros is looking to, not only reboot the Superman franchise a la The Incredible Hulk, but also to exploit the cross-over idea started by Marvel… Continue
