SkellingJack's Top Ten Movies of 2010

Alright 2010 is just about over, and since everyone else is doing it, I might as well make a Top Ten list of my personal favorite movies of 2010. Now, while I haven't seen everything this year, this list is based on the movies I enjoyed the most this year atleast from what I've seen this year. So enough rambling, let's get started

Aaron's 10 Worst Movies Of 2010

2010 will go down in history as the most disappointing year for movies ever. There was so much potential for some great movies this year and after starting off real strong with The Book Of Eli, Edge Of Darkness, and Shutter Island, just got so fucking bad.

Sure, there were some high points during the year with Toy Story 3, Scott Pilgrim, and How To Train Your Dragon among others but other than those films, this was just a bad year for movies.

And here are the 10 that I… Continue

The 'We Can Do It' Poster Girl Dies At Age 86!

Here's an interesting story from Zap2it.com:

The woman behind the iconic Rosie the Riveter poster, citing "We Can Do It!" has died at 86.

Geraldine Hoff Doyle was 17 years old when she was spotted in a Michigan metal factory wearing the now infamous red polka-dot bandanna. After being photographed by Union Press International that day, the photo was later used by the U.S. War Production Coordinating Committee to create the image we know today.

Daughter Stephanie… Continue

2010 In Film: Nominees & Winners Of The Year's Best In Film

Some have said that 2010 has been a bad year for movies. I debunk that statement by saying 2010 was a great year for movies. Sure there have been some examples of great films that are engaging, and are fun for the audience, and there have been examples of what not to do in a  movie, but every year is like that. Every year is different, this year seemed to be the tech/thinking year. We had films that were about the new age of technology, and that made you think, l and not just dumb it…

Aaron's Top 10 Movies Of 2010

This blog post is really special for two reasons.

Number one, it's going up on Christmas Eve, so Merry Christmas everybody and Happy Holidays. And number two, this is my 1,200th blog post so another reason to celebrate.

Anyway, this is my best movies of 2010 list. Let's be honest, 2010 was a shitty year for movies. After a great year of films last year in 2009 (to the point where I did not just a best 10 list but a best 15 list), you would think that would continue into… Continue

2010: A Year In Review Part 1

Last year, instead of doing the traditional "Top 10 of the Year" list, I talked a little bit about every movie that I saw that year in chronological release date order. Well, it's that time of the year again! Before we start, I'd like to mention that this is going by US limited or major releases, since some of these came out last year in foreign markets or…

Personal Favorite Trailers of 2010, the year we didn't make contact

Not for the trailer itself and really just for the reactions it received. This got the funniest reactions from audiences I’ve ever heard. I couldn’t see this once in theater without a large portion of the audience groaning or laughing. I even heard one guy…

Christmas Carol Contest!

With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas on the way I figured it would be a great time to have a contest.

The Contest: Take a pre-existing Christmas song or write your own Christmas carol that is about Spill.com.

The Rules: It has to be about Spill and if you're making a song of your own

instead of using the melody of a classic Christmas song then it has to

sound Christmasy. You don't have to record the song, but it will…

Crazy Movie Theory: The Dark Crystal

Recently, Netflix has come into my life and I must say, it's pretty awesome.  It's helped me through many a boring night at college when it just seems to be a dull weekend.  It's also great because it gave me the chance to watch Jim Henson's fantasy epic The Dark Crystal again.

A favorite movie of my childhood, it truly shows Jim Henson's ability as a storyteller when he puts…

Videogames of 2011

So, 2010 is almost at an end. Christmas is just around the corner and I'm sure we've all played the best games of the year (Red Dead Redemption, God of War 3, the list goes on),  but what do we have to look forward to next year? Well, I'm here to compile a list of what's coming and what we know so far. Oh, and I'm keeping off some of the ones that nobody knows anything about, like, say, Mass Effect 3.

1.) Batman: Arkham City…

An argument against modern-day film criticism...

Film criticism and analysis is nothing new, nor is it something in the minority.  Audience members and critics love to dissect certain aspects of film and speculate the 'true meaning' of the movie at hand.  While I will admit that it might be engaging to gather friends or other filmgoers around to talk about what a certain aspects of a film might mean in a broader sense, in the end, film criticism is nothing more than a "benevolent distortion" of the true value of art.  This article is an…

top ten movies of the year!

ok it's that time of year again where we all say what have been some of the best and worst of 2010. I figured I would write the best of now and get around to doing the worst of next week. Just to mention before people say why are films like black swan or 127hours or blah blah blah not on it. Its because Australia is backwards and we don't get some films till way later then you so im not going to put movies i havn't seen on the list cause that would just be stupid.

Is "Tron" a example of a past property fading away?

"Tron: Legacy" is number one at the box office, not a surprise, and it's take in is considered to some to be a disappointment, but to be fair it's not even in it's first week of release, but considering the money it did bring in, and the critical response from mostly critics, but also general moviegoers, "Tron: Legacy" isn't what they wanted, and expected.

Yahoo.com has said:

"Tron: Legacy," a costly 3D sci-fi…
