Hugh Jackman to quit being Wolverine?...

Source: http://www.imdb.com/news/ni0616277/

It appears that Australian actor Hugh Jackman has stated that if the X-men Origins: Wolverine movie doesn't match the success of the original X-men trilogy, he will retire the character.

"I'm not going to flog something - or flog a dead horse, or try and make movies that people don't really want to go and see. I have no interest in that. Even no matter how much I love the character. So there are many… Continue

Twelve Movies for Christmas

Well the yuletide is almost upon us. Americans are tucking in for tasty turkey dinners and tuning TV’s to touchdowns and parades. Stores are already trimmed with tinsel and sales while Christmas classics play over the intercom.

I figured I’d put together a list of a few holiday movies to look for this merry season. So pour yourself a glass of Eggnog and grab a gingerbread cookie.

1: It’s A Wonderful Life

I guess… Continue

Matt Reeves set to direct "Let the Right One In" remake

Photobucket

Even before Let the Right One In was released in cinemas, Cloverfield director Matt Reeves had signed to write and direct an English language remake for Overture Films and Hammer Films. Hammer Films acquired the remake rights at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival and Overture films plans to release the film in 2009. Alfredson has been reported as saying that he is not happy that the film is being remade, saying that "Remakes should be made of movies that aren’t very… Continue

Quantum of Solace: The Video Game review

There are a lot things of Quantum of Solace: The Video Game that make you think the opposite of what the game is overall. It looks like a first-person shooter, but 8/10 of the time you're behind cover in third-person view. Another thing that gets you fooled is the title. I thought, for a sequel that had WAY more action scenes than Casino Royale ended up having less chapters to play. Apparently, Activision decided to have Casino Royale's sequences to be the most of the chapters. One last… Continue

Gimmick Films

Films with gimmicks and you

Often times films are made in order to experiment with a style which doesn't follow the conventional narrative connotations in which we are all accustomed to. These films incorporate techniques in either their story element, shot selection or pacing of the film in which can memorize or attract an audience because it is either something different to what is normally perceived or simply a marketing ploy to attract audience.

Examples of this… Continue

What If Disney Remade Horror Flicks?

Anyone who knows me is aware of how big of a nerd I am when it comes to the canine species (nothing sexual, promise). The instant I see one of the lovely four-legged pups, I immediately turn into the biggest girly girl there is, screaming “PUPPERS!” as loud as I can. So, one could imagine how extremely excited I was to see Bolt, Disney’s latest dynamic doggy… Continue

The Top Five Comedies of the Last Decade

I have a big sense of humor, but when it comes to movies it can be quite difficult to make me laugh. Films usually resort to countless cliches just to get a chuckle or grin out of the audience. Several comedies that are considered 'classics' are pretty much oldies, films that were typically released before the mid-nineties. So for this list, I decided to look at films that were released within the last ten years. These films are modern, but are still as funny as other comedy classics we know… Continue

The Wrestler

I've been excited about this movie for a while, and watching the trailer earlier today totally pushed me over the edge. The Wrestler is now officially the film that I am anticipating the most. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend watching the trailer. I've even gone to the trouble of embedding it below. How suspiciously convenient!

Darren Aronofsky is one of my favourite directors, and it really looks like he's made a masterpiece in this… Continue

Broad of the Dead: Poultrygeist and Other Troma Terrors!

For those of you who actually read my horror column, you’ve probably been wondering with all this talk about schlock and shock, why haven’t I mentioned Troma? Well, trust me, I’ve wanted to ever since I started Broad of the Dead, but decided to save it for a special occasion. With Thanksgiving this week, I decided to talk not only about Troma itself, but one of Troma’s timely releases,… Continue

Star Trek...in Imax!

When I saw the first Star Trek trailer, which was really a teaser, I thought the movie would be cool, since it's Star Trek, but honestly, the trailer was shit. It was just a bunch of people building the Enterprise. I also wasn't really very turned on the obscure cast, who I've never heard of, but J.J. Abrams surprised and delighted me as a choice of director. He's done some great stuff like Lost and Fringe, one of my favorite shows on TV right… Continue

Movies That Came Out a Long Time Ago That I Just Got Around To Seeing: Hell Ride

Being the poor, miserable waitress that I am, I rarely drag myself away from my apartment on my day off and pay ten dollars to see a movie in theaters. Instead I drag my comforter from my bed to my couch and wrap myself in my netflix cacoon so I can try to catch up all the films I've been missing. Sure, it seems like a waste of time reading a review for a movie you saw three years ago but if you're reading this then you probably dont have much else to do anyway. So please enjoy. And for the… Continue

My Top Ten: Favorite Aussie Movies

Being a guy who lives in Australia most of my life, we Aussies have a fair share of good films. There are some things in Australia that makes us unique from the rest of the world like VBs, Footy, meat pies, vegemites, even though I don't like those kinds of stuff. Thing is most of great Hollywood actors nowadays are Aussies. Even Health Ledger who f*ckin played the Joker in The Dark… Continue

Don't You Wish You Were A Film Critic?

Almost 14,000 of us are here at Spill.com. Why? Because we LOVE movies. We don't just like them, we love them. We're not the average audience that goes out to watch a flick on a Friday night. We cause the hype, we talk about movies, review them, and we constantly look for any movie-related news to get us through the day. I don't know what the ideal job would be for you, but wouldn't you love to be a film critic?

The thought of just writing your own reviews, or making video reviews… Continue
