Gilly Reviews - Episode 1: Pokemon: The First Movie

Wassup my spill.com friends. My name is Andrew “Mastershake99999” Gelinas and welcome to Gilly Reviews Episode 1!!!

Today I am going to review a movie that is so near and dead to my heart. That’s right, it’s Pokémon: The First Movie AKA Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back!!!

But first, lets travel back to a simpler and happier time when there were only 151 Pokémon and when the greatest show ever, Dragonball Z was still on (will talk…

For the reviews Anthony has *sigh* yet another limited series. This time he's taking a look tat Image Comics first issue of Memoir. On a side note, this writer has the best name ever: Ben McCool. And your other host, Chris, picks apart another super villian team-up book with a look at Marvels latest story arc of Thunderbolts.…

Bulletstorm Review: Putting the Fun Back in Shooters

There are games out there that deliver powerful stories. There are other games out there that show the horrors and grittiness of war. Bulletstorm is neither of those games. Bulletstorm is a game that awards you points for pulling down a mutant's pants and shooting him in the ass. It's juvenile, it's crass, it's immature...and it's a hell of a lot of fun. Because what Bulletstorm does…

Thank God for Charlie Sheen.

You know, it's not often that I say this but I'm actually happy to sit back and watch someone completely loose their damn mind in their own battle of egotistical insanity. It's just funny to me that with the boring Oscars, the laughable "Thumbing of the nose to Hollywood" Razzie awards, lack of anything interesting in theaters for the last couple of weeks and of course, let's not forget the complete internet-rage over Justin Bieber's movie, I finally get something worth watching on TV.....…

Paul: A Tumah Review

Let me say upfront that even though this stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the two leads, this is not an Edgar Wright film. But it's pretty damn close. The references to the sci-fi genre aren't as obscure and are much easier to catch than with a Wright script but they're still laugh out loud material. Albeit some of them are pretty obvious like having the Cantina Band music when going into a bar (Too late guys, Team America did it 7 years ago) and… Continue

'13 Going On 30' & 'Charlotte's Web' Director Gary Winnick Dead At Age 49

Source: IFC.com

All the Oscar celebrations last night were marred slightly by the report from Cinetic's Matt Dentler on Twitter that producer/director Gary Winick passed away yesterday, just short of his 50th birthday:

"Gary Winick died today. Too late to make the Oscars tribute, but way too early. He leaves behind a legacy of supporting indie film and NYC."

Most moviegoers would know Winick for his studio fare, his most recent film being Letters to Juliet,… Continue

Christopher Nolan and the Academy Awards

Few directors have garnered as much praise in the last decade as Christopher Nolan has. Said praise has come from impressive box office numbers -almost $1.2 billion domestically-, many appearances in critics' end of the year top 10 lists and awards from pretty much every award ceremony in the Anglophone world. Except for one, the grand daddy of them all: the Academy Awards. With only three nominations under his belt, none of which are for Best Director, the golden statuette…

Kung-Fu Revu 68: The Mad Detective (2007)

Synopsis:

Bun (Lau Ching-Wan) is the best detective on the force... but he is batshit crazy. And he's not cute crazy, like Monk, or Riggs. He's imaginary-friend / self-mutilation crazy. But they keep him around because of his awesome record. That is until he cuts off his ear and gives it to the chief as a last minute retirement present. Five years later Ho (Andy On) is…

Just Plain Greedy

While waiting for the Oscars, I decided to look at my burgeoning Netflix queue and find something to kill the time while I do some housework and get ready for the Oscars (You can read about it here).  The movie I settled on was the classic 80s masterpiece Wall Street.  The 20th Century Fox film stars Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, Daryl Hannah, Martin Sheen, and Terence Stamp.  I must…
