I am just about the finish my 3rd Year of BA Film Studies at the University of Derby, feeling like an egghead and full of such vast knowledge about cinema. Being hopeful of getting a Masters Course in London, I thought that I would look back at my essays and plans and present them to you, hopefully educating a few people in this new segment 'Cutting Into The Scene'.
About three and half months ago, some friends and i began a bet, to see which one of these two films would be the worst.
DragonBall:Evolution
Of course when seeing the original trailer i thought this movie looked terrible. However after seeing the last trailer i believe this movie could have some potential. Here are some of the things that bothered me about the film before seeing the latest trailer: For… Continue
For a while now horror fans have been waiting for this classic franchise to get rebooted like its other slasher film counterparts Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees. This "re-imagining" seems promising since I'm a fan of the films. Hopefully it'll be better than the recent Friday the 13th remake, which wasn't terrible, but wasn't great either. The screenplay will be written by the famous Wes Craven so is seems promising.…
After a week of migrating between my bed and couch with what felt like the Black Plague and watching nothing but the History Channel, I’ve noticed that a good chunk of people love to talk about aliens. In fact, I have a theory that these people are the secret hands behind a majority of our alien movies, hence why a good chunk of them are not only… Continue
Well, we have been waiting, and waiting for Watchmen to finally come out, and I just finished the book this weekend. I have to say, I can understand why people are intrigued with Rorschach. He's what would happen if The Question had one too many beers and went off the deep… Continue

Ever watch a movie that is a drama, horror, action, sci-fi, experimental, or any genre at all that's definitely not a musical but there is one scene that stands out to you where the characters break out into song or dance? This is a blog dedicated to some of those movies, or at least the ones that stood out the most for me.
For some reason, these are some of my favorite moments in films. Here are some examples. Also, please feel free to post any of your favorites I… Continue
By now considered one of the “greats” of the horror genre, Friday the 13th spawned a whole myriad of sequels, ranging from direct continuations to expeditions in space and hell. Although all of them went on to star Jason Voorhees, it was the 1980 original that had his mother in the killer shoes, serving up a whole mixture of mayhem at Camp Crystal Lake. With an all-new remake hitting theaters,… Continue
There is a press blackout on reviewing the Watchmen movie until March 6. However, I've seen the movie, and I'm not press. Don't worry, I'm not going to write a review of Watchmen. What I am going to write about is the emotional experience of seeing a piece of literature with which I have an intense personal connection LITERALLY COME TO… Continue
SInce 'The Flintstones' got the move to the big screen back in 1994, there has been numerous talks of a live-action 'Jetsons' movie with such directors as Brad Siberling and Robert Rodriguez rumored to taking on the live-action movie.
'The Jetsons' first debuted as a companion to 'The Flintstones' in 1963 on ABC and only lasted one season but about 22 years later, the series returned for a new run of 65 episodes between 1985 to 1987 which… Continue
20th Century Fox has revealed the trailer for the soon-to-be released teen comedy 'I Love You, Beth Cooper' coming to theaters on July 10th.
"I Love You Beth Cooper" chronicles the story of a nerdy valedictorian who proclaims his love for the hottest cheerleader in school during his graduation speech. Much to his surprise, the ridiculously popular cheerleader shows up at his door that very night and decides to show him the best night of… Continue
So, this is my first ever blog & probably my last, so I just wanted to warn you: Spoilers.
1. True Romance
Most of you reading this will have seen this movie and while it’s full of gun fights, drug deals and a little stabbing, it’s also a very romantic movie. Not just for the sickly-sweet scenes between Clarence & Alabama “And I swear from this day forth… I’ll never lie to you again” (Awwww) But also… Continue
Two weeks ago, I had the most wonderful time in the Big apple for five days. I admit I had never been abroad since I went with my family to Corfu in Greece 10 years ago.
However, there were some flaws which nearly turned me and my dad's trip into disaster. First the food on… Continue

Welcome to the first episode of my new "rant of the week" blog series, "FOR F**K'S SAKE, HOLLYWOOD!!!", where I criticize the critics and give Hollywood hell. For my first article, I thought i would give my views on an article i just read yesterday in this week's Entertainment Weekly entitled "How They're Voting". The article focuses on EW grilling 3 unnamed Academy members (an Actor, a Director, and an Executive) on their opinions on who should win what in the bigger categories of next… Continue

(I understand if a lot of you spillios out there have probably barely ever watched a Criterion DVD much less a Louis Malle film - or, for that matter, a movie with Jeanne Moreau. Maybe I'm just a little too geeky for French-New Wave classics of the late 50s and 60s to pay closer attention to the usual geeky tastes on the site. But if you haven't seen and are interested, I also reccomend for…Continue

Canada's National Post newspaper printed this list of Jason V's kills throughout his career. It lists who died and shows a rough drawing of how they were killed. It's disturbing how many of these I actually remember....
