TRON NIGHT review (SPOILERS)

I was fortunate to attend a screening of 20 + minutes of TRON: LEGACY. When I arrived an hour before the screening started, I was expecting to get crappy seats and end up at the end of the line. It turned out that me and my friend were first. After a while more people showed up but not a lot. After being metal detected, there were probly only 70 people in a 500 seater IMAX theatre. I expected the theatre to be full of people just excited for this movie as I was but it was empty. Apparently…See More

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE review

To be perfectly honest, I have been sitting in my chair in front of my computer for about an hour now trying to write the best opening sentence that describes my undying love for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. Spike Jonze has been making this movie for a long time, fighting the studio in order to release his vision of what this film should be. I am sooooooooo happy that he won in the end otherwise we could've gotten a crappy kids movie with lame fart jokes and lame references to famous movies that…See More

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY review

Lately, it seems like I have been reviewing horror movies more often than any genre. I wrote reviews on THE FINAL DESTINATION 3-D (which doesn't deserve any association with this genre of filmaking) and ZOMBIELAND (which did have some good tense scenes despite the fact that the movie is mainly a comedy). I didn't hear about PARANORMAL ACTIVITY until the day it was released and has carried on really well since it was released. This movie is a brilliant, non-stop tension, heart-pounding,…See More

ZOMBIELAND review

For some reason when it comes to horror films the zombie genre doesn't disappoint. I can't remember when was the last there was a zombie movie that wasn't good. DAWN OF THE DEAD, 28 DAYS LATER, 28 WEEKS LATER, REC, SHAUN OF THE DEAD, and the list goes on. Now with ZOMBIELAND, that bar has been raised pretty damn high that I will be surprised if one day another movie comes along to top this.THIS MOVIE WAS THE SHIT! Every scene is either funny as shit or filled with tension, something that most…See More

GAMER review

Most people enjoy video games. I know I do. Since I got my XBOX 360, I've been devoting a great deal of my time to HALO 3 on XBOX LIVE, time that I should be spending being more social. But in this dark and disturbing vision of the future, the world of online gaming pretty much destroys our moral judgement. I was going to play HALO 3 after I saw this movie and I don't think I want to play video games for a week. This is Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor's third film together, their first two…See More

Final Destination 3-D review

The horror genre seems to be really dull these days. It was tough to decide which movie I was going to see tonight: Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN sequel or the latest installment in the FINAL DESTINATION series. I watched both of the trailers and HALLOWEEN 2 seemed like it would be really boring. FINAL DESTINATION didn't look impressive either but I was sold on the 3-D and was ready to watch over-the-top death scenes in Digital 3-D at a sold out theater with a crowd that just wanted to have a good…See More

BLACK DYNAMITE review

It really sucks to see a really good movie not do well. BLACK DYNAMITE was released last Friday on limited screens. Here in Irvine, the movie has had no business. When I saw that the movie wouldn’t last another week, I had to make an early trip to the theater. I laughed my ass off watching the trailer and I was really looking forward to it. I was running late to see the movie because I didn’t want a front row seat. Luckily when I made it, the previews were still running but there were only 4… Continue

SAW VI review

Ah, Jigsaw, Jigsaw, Jigsaw.. How much longer are you going to keep this up? Six movies in half a decade and yet you have another one coming out next year. Didn't you die 3 movies ago? As much as I do like this series it's run is beginning to wear off on me. The SAW series is this generation FRIDAY THE 13TH. All we want to see from these movies are the sick, twisted mousetraps set up by Jigsaw, or in this case Hoffman. I enjoy watching these traps go in play you can truly get the sense that they… Continue
