There have been a lot of discussions on religion lately, and I've noticed certain verbal inadequacies that make it difficult to debate this subject. It's tough to make a case that gods exist or not when we aren't even in agreement over what we're ...

This is the debut production of JackandZack Films. It's a mockumentary about a legendary cult-film director, Jack Gattanella, who is making his latest film "Crest of Senses", and taking his two stars Zack and Hayley down into the depths of madness.

As I see it, there are two great virtues of horror films that no other genre seems able to match. While dramas seem only able to talk about or hint at the conflicts within or between characters, horror films give them physical substance in the for...

On Coens and endings (includes spoilers)

It was just under two years ago that people started to complain about No Country For Old Men's lack of an ending. It was also around that time that I started to pull my hair out in frustration for people's stubborn-ness when they're wrong. Of course No Country For Old Men has an ending! It's right here!

I'm not saying there's no reason to complain. There is. Three quarters of the way through the film, a major development takes place off-screen (heard but not seen), and… Continue

The Ten Best Films You Haven't Seen - An Introduction

If you've read any of the reviews that I post on the threads, then you've most likely noticed that they're all written in a very rigid style, divided up into sections. I've found this method less and less creatively satisfying lately, and I'm going to try to stick to more straightforward reviews from now on. This leads to the dilemma of how to break myself from that style, which has been a crutch of mine for too long.

For this reason, and at the request of some fellow Spill members, I will emba… Continue

That word is SO overrated!

Was it a good cry?

I'm a sap when it comes to movies. While watching Up, I cried like a baby. Twice. This happens more often than I'd like to admit.

More often than not, it's a rewarding experience, cathartic because it causes us to reflect upon ourselves or the world around us. In some extreme cases (i.e. Requiem For A Dr… Continue

I watched Persepolis on Sunday. It was for lack of a better term amazing. It left me with a lump in the back of my throat.

Eh, that's okay. We all have things that we thought could be accomplished.

But yeah, a Top 25 seems plausible.

Ever think of getting that 'Spill Top 100' off the ground?

I've already invited all my friends to join the group, so they might be curious when to start. I'll be adding my submissions soon.

Also, I've got a great idea: how about we make multiple lists on different subjects? A Top 100 Sc-Fi Movies, Top 100 Movie VIllains, etc. would be awesome.
