In this case, however, you'll be glad you missed it. To start things off, it should be known that Heavy Petting offers nothing. Absolutely nothing. It promises very little, and fails to deliver even on that. There's a reason it went by unnoticed. W…

The Invention of Lying (Review)

Dear Ricky Gervais,

Oh, Ricky. Throughout your career you've been able to produce a special kind of laughter - the awkward laughter stemming from your portrayal of slightly desperate losers. It was the formula that fueled the success of your still most notable role - that of David Brent, lead character of the much beloved original version of the office. It was this similar formula you tried, quite valiantly, to throw into our faces with your latest movie: The Invention of Lying.… Continue

Movies You Might Have Missed - Heavy Petting (Review)

In this case, however, you'll be glad you missed it. To start things off, it should be known that Heavy Petting offers nothing. Absolutely nothing. It promises very little, and fails to deliver even on that. There's a reason it went by unnoticed.

Why did I watch it? Certainly not for the high expectations I had for the film. Allow me to explain. A couple of months back, my parents were visiting my uncle and aunt in San Francisco. My uncle, eager to please, introduced them to a friend of his - a… Continue

Movies You Might Have Missed - A Look at "The Band's Visit" (Review)

As much as I love Netflix, there is a certain joy I find in browsing through the DVD boxes on display at the local video store. Though, more often than not, I tend to scan the summaries of amusing sounding Horror movies with low budgets (see: ReVamped), now and then I'll stumble upon a gem that, while released recently, went past me unnoticed. It was in this way that I came across The Band's Visit, the directorial debut of Israeli Screenwriter Eran Kolirin.

Why History Won't Remember Munich (review)

In 1972, the world watched in horror as 11 Israeli Olympians were taken hostage and massacred during the Summer Games held in Munich, tearing apart what small hope had been garnered for Peace in the Middle East. Never before had the Olympic games been so violently disrupted.
In 2005, Steven Spielberg, one of the most respected filmmakers in Hollywood, decided to direct a film centered around the aftermath of the historic event. Featuring a monumental budget, a script penned by award winning scre… Continue

An Early Review of Friday the 13th (spoilers possible)

Let's get the facts straight - the review below is not my own. I was gonna write a review for Munich, the movie, and then I dropped it, and never got around to writing another post. This is, rather, the account of a one R.L. Shaffer. I found this review online, and though I have no way to verify if the guy even saw the movie, the review is written convincingly enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought I would share it with you guys because a great deal of you seem to be inter… Continue

Also, don't be discouraged if your screenplay doesn't work right, the first draft is always the toughest but once its done its pretty much all plain sailing after that..
