Profile

Hometown:
Austin
About Me:

Show your love for Cyrus if you've got some disposable income sitting around by buying him some stuff on his wish list. May FSM bless you.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.

Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.

I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.

All those moments will be lost in time...

like tears in rain...

Time to die.

Hey yeah, so I'm Cyrus and I will be the first to admit that I don't have much of a life beyond watching movies and TV and surfing teh internets for stuff about movies and TV. It may not sound all that exciting but believe me its...yeah, it doesn't come with a bag of chips. Still, I love it and despite the lack of female companionship and a steady of diet of artificial-ish foods(TM) I wouldn't have it any other way (except for maybe the lack of female companionship... maybe I could get sponsored by RealDoll). Currently this is all I do for a living so make sure you let Korey know that I'm your favorite on the show and you want to see more of me. Check out my movie reviews and let me know what you think.

I have some groups I keep updated when I have relevant info, Austin Filmmakers for helpful information for people involved in making films in Austin and Austin Texas Movie Buffs for listing of special or free movie events around Austin. I also frequent What the Spill Crew is Doing in Austin because that's where we post when you're invited to come hang out with us here in town.

Sites I enjoy:

My friend Tim Harrison here in Austin is making a really amazing documentary about a local guy who made a movie called 'All Night Boogie' over the space of three years. The film was plagued on every side by misfortune but the filmmaker wouldn't give up. It makes for a compelling video. You should go here to his site Aw, Shaddup! to check it out, and Tim's really entertaining blog.

Splatterblog!: Hysterical comments about entertainment and life by the somewhat testy Mr.Furious. Some of the best animated pictures I've ever seen on the internet I got from this guy.

Ctrl+Alt+Del: One of the best geek commentary online comics.

EW Popwatch: Snarky entertainment commentary and links to all kinds of cool videos.

Hijinks Ensue: Another great online geek comic

Neil Gaiman's Blog: Ok, so I'm a Gaiman geek. Still, he writes a good blog.

Penny Arcade: No question, the best geek comic. Still, it's definitely a GEEK comic and if you don't play videogames, don't bother.

PostSecret: Disturbing anonymous reader submitted postcards with their secrets on them. Amazing.

Slackerwood: Great coverage of the Austin film scene. Cool people write it too.

The Urban Legends Reference Guide: Someone making an outrageous or questionable claim online? Check it out here first before re-posting it. You could spend a whole week here just finding out how many of the things you always believed to be true was just bullshit.

Brian Brushwood: Bizarre Magic: My favorite magician and just an all around great guy. Buy his books and videos or he'll put an evil monkey in your closet.

Stereogum: The best music blog for indie rock snobs like me. Lots of free mp3s from great bands like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Interpol every day.

Matt Dentler: This is a cool guy in Austin who programs SXSW film as well as Fantastic Fest and is involved in almost everything that has anything to do with film here. His blog is an essential read for anybody who fancies themselves a film geek in Austin.

Warren Ellis's Blog: I love Ellis too. One of the best comic writers working today and his blog is pretty damn entertaining as well.

XKCD I recently discovered this online comic and it's cracking me up. Make sure you pause your cursor over the strip to see the hidden message.

Whedonesque: A links blog about all things Joss Whedon. What a surprise to find this here. Not.

Too Much Coffee Man: The greatest comic strip of all time. Or, just my buddy who I want to promote. Can't both be true?

Trailer Spot: Nice place to go for trailers. The descriptions of them really make this site worthwhile, as you can get the idea ahead of time of what is worth sitting through or not.

Poyboy: Bryan Poyser, Austin man about town and Austin Film Festival honcho gives good indie film scoop here.

DiniToons:Comics and animation god Paul Dini blogs here and podcasts and is generally awesome.

The Geek Curmudgeon: Rick Klaw-Geek, friend, supervillain. He's also a really great writer who keeps up a terrific blog about all things geekly.
Porn Star Name!:
Captain Not a Banana in his pants

Cyrus Presents a Review From Desire for the "Pete Kelly's Blues" DVD

Warner Brothers has been unloading a lot of their back titles lately on DVD in generally nice fixed-up, if not elaborate, re-releases. As a fan of movie history from the beginning till the moment that film hit it's high mark with "The Dark Knight" (I co

Cyrus Reviews the "Birds of Prey: The Complete Series" DVD

The casual comics fan remains blissfully ignorant of Earth-2, but it’s made for many headaches for DC Comics. The parallel Earth, and its doubling of characters in the DC pantheon, made for some confusing reading at poin… Continue

Cyrus Presents a Review From Jason for "The X-Files: Revelations" DVD

I know it may come as a surprise that I wouldn't cover anything and everything to cross the Spill desk that has to do with "The X-Files". It's precisely because of my monstrous and all-forgiving geekdom for the series that I passed on this review of the "X-Files

Cyrus Reviews "The Batman Season Five" Animated Series

I didn’t even know there was a new Batman animated series going on, that’s how out of the loop I am. Normally I am awake Saturday mornings when...well...ok, I’m never normally awake Saturday mornings (unless… Continue

Cyrus Presents a Review from Jason for "Insanitarium"

Hey Spillions, Cyrus here, Do I like horror? Sure I do. I always considered myself a aficionado of the genre. This is true only when you measure me against John Q Popcorn, the average movie watcher. When I got my fifteenth question here at Spill ask

Do you remember when the deal was going down, and the fake batman arrived? The guy in that mask is the scarecrow. He was played by Cillian Murphy.
