I went to see Green Lantern Sunday night. This is my take. I don't know why people are hating on this. When there's to much action people complain about character devwolpment. When there's to much character play people say it's boring. This is a good origion story. It gets the basics out of the way. My only complaint is is this. I wanted a longer training montage. I don't know what fanboy wanted here. I got what I expected. A good superhero movie. It was better than Thor. Yes it…

D.E.S. said… Nice comment man. But like you're a diehard Steelers fan I'm a diehard GIJOE fan. sure the cartoons weren't GREAT but atleast they stuck to the source material. The movies don't even do that. It's just hollywood making shit up and stamping G.I.JOE on it for nostalgia. I won't be seeing it. I'll go see THE HOST instead.
Conejita said… Yay! I saw that you joined the film group a little while ago. I hope you can join us for a "screening" some time. These movies don't disappoint in their horribleness!
I hope you're doing well. :)

MDS said… Actually, after what WB has done with a lot of their DC comics, I'm kind of looking forward to more comic-book movies being animated than anything else. It's especially true when you can find a good animation company that can do it in the current style of the artist involved with drawing the comic. I can't think of any "good comic-book movie" that would be hurt by being an animated movie, including Nolan's Batman, Iron Man (1) or even the original Superman back in the 70's.
As far as "guilty pleasure" flicks go. Thanks to youtube, I watched Maximum Overdrive last night for fun. =)
MDS said… Nah, I don't think we really disagree with Transformers that much. The Bay movies are entertainment, but not really what I would call "good films".... and they "could have been" a lot better if treated with a little more respect of the source material instead of going off on it's own thing. Other than that, I really haven't cared about the Bay-Transformers that much. lol
Green Lantern was kind of 1/2 good -- 1/2 bad... I just wish that I could really tell what 1/2 was missing cause it seemed all over the place.
Capt America looks interesting if they don't go overboard with the "Superhero" stuff and from the trailer that's what it's looking like. Should be Capt America gets powers and then goes to fight, learning as he goes along. But from the trailers, seems that it's get powers and go out and totally kiss ass without learning anything along the way.
Superman? I have no hopes at all for the upcoming Superman movie, simply because WB is fast-tracking it into production to avoid legal battles and not actually thinking about what to do or where to go before they start. =)
