I wish I took some LSD or something before I went and saw this movie!

Seriously, though. I wish I did take some drugs before walking into this, even if I am against them. Maybe I would have loved the movie if I did. With all the colors and fast moving camera shoots, I would have been a happy camper throughout this roller coaster. At the same time, I didn't have to take drugs to watch Crank 2, which was a lot of fun. How I feel about this whole Marvel/Disney ordeal

Okay, so if you don't know by now, Disney has bought Marvel Entertainment. Whether or not this will truly affect Marvel or comics as we know is up for speculation. Right now, everyone is losing their minds over this thing. Not to say that they're wrong for thinking this because Disney has a reputation of watering down to sell to their demographic, which are kids.

"A Bridge Too Far" surrender scene... absolute classic "Fuck You" moment in films.

"633 Squadron" isn't that bad. Effects are sort of bad compared to today's movies, but the ending is something that inspired the "Trench Run" in Star Wars.

And this one is a personal favorite, although never really happened, like Basterds. Look for "The Eagle Has Landed". (Highly recommend this one)

Most of BoRK was something that struck me as being more about "Look at how the British are all so Stiff-upper-lipped-about-things and how they are Better-than-their-captors. I can't really recommend BoRK to anyone because of those factors. If you are looking for some good war Movies, I also suggest "Battle of Britain" if you can find it. Bit slow in parts, but the Dog-fights and plane-crashes are outrageous. You'll be asking yourself several times if someone actually took a real plane or was that a model?

Plus, when you look at all the "Misfit" type of military movies out there now it sort of gets shoved to the rear. The Basterds, the movies from the 80's, the crappy sequel (Next dirty dozen or some-such name) and then there is the "A-team" tv series....

All of those sort of took the same concept, taking Military prisoners and start to do some sort of "Suicide Mission" made the concept really sort of overdone. But when it comes to the Dirty Dozen, it's up there.

As far as A Bridge Too Far? Well, that's another one that I love wholeheartedly. It's possibly still one of the better movies out there that shows almost all aspects of a war. Britain, US, Germany, Polish, Danes.... it's great how they all worked it into the movie. It starts off a bit slow, but once the "Air-drop" happens it picks up QUICKLY. It also shows the differences between the US and British Military. Where the US has this "Let's go" attitude, the British tend to have a "Wait for it" attitude (At least when it comes to orders). It's interesting how much further they could have gotten into Holland and possibly Germany if they were willing to just push it a bit further to that last bridge. I think you'll like it, especially the "Surrender Scene", it's a classic.

They show you how they did the effects, and it blew my mind how they managed to pull some of it off. From the 40' tower of Helping Hands, to the juggler that had to hide behind Bowie's back and juggle those crystal balls without looking....man. What an incredible set that must have been to work on.

Labyrinth is incredible. The wonderful thing for me is how much that movie has grown up with me. There's so much in it that you can't really analyze until you have enough life experience to really understand what's going on. That's why I love it so much,,,,it means even more to me than it did when I was a kid because I can relate to it so well.

And BOWIE is always a win!

Yeah, I know most people think that Batman is great because he uses his brains, gadgets, and martial arts training instead of powers, but I'm the exact opposite. I don't even think Batman counts as a real superhero, he's just a vigilante. I think Rorschach is the only character along the lines of Batman's style that I like.

The whole thing was pretty bland and emotionless (besides the Joker, he was the one redeeming aspect). Batman is just a really boring superhero; he's a rich boy with a bunch of gadgets, he doesn't even have real powers! But anyway, basically my biggest problems with the Dark Knight were that it was too long, too boring, and too emotionless and bland (and you can factor in my hatred of Christian Bale). All the characters in Batman just kind of suck... Except for The Joker. If I want to watch a superhero movie, I'll go watch Spiderman.

It's a VERY unique movie in that there are NO humans. It's ALL puppets. The character designs are really amazing, the way the Skeksis move is so life like. Maurice Sendak is Jim Henson's biggest influence (In the credits of Labyrinth you'll even see a dedication to him). So it doesn't surprise me that it would go in reverse for creating these monsters. Makes me really wish Jim Henson were here today, I wonder what he would have thought of the film.

There are entirely too many movies out that rely solely on special effects to carry the film, when the plot is terrible. I'm really only going to take particular notice if the special effects if they are BAD. It seems like you can do just about anything with CGI nowadays, so I just don't feel that wow factor anymore.

Having said that, yes, the monsters were amazing, and they did a fantastic job of staying true to the book. All of them are dead-on with every detail. It bothered me how crusty they were though! I wanted to get in there with a washcloth and wipe their faces!
