Now, I've just had a lot of problems with a user named Chig Champa. I've met a few other people that have this same problem. This group is meant to create a place of solitude for people like me and the others and maybe get rid of him.

read this link, even i learned something from this, and it is directly about the cambrian explosion and the 'sudden' increase in life, it is not in depth but if you take a look at the bibliography it is extensive.

http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CC/CC300.html

if you have time this is a very in-depth scientific paper on evolution as common descent, it has taught me a lot already and i am still reading through it.

http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/

but you are right we are going in circles, this is stuff i have shown you before, if you really wanted to learn you would have either already read at least some of the links i have sent you, but you are clearly not interested in that, good luck and see you in the forums.

peace

we're really running in circles here. Those links you sent me are very very generalized evolution links. We are discussing something very specific here. I don't disagree that oxygen is needed and aids in development, but to turn single celled into complex organisms. That is the point you still have zero proof of. Even saying increases in oxygen doesn't come close to answering the problem created by the cambrian explosion. It's fine if you don't wanna talk about it, but I'm gonna take it as you don't have an answer. If you did, you'd give it to me instead of crying bout sending me links etc.

Also are you saying if I wore an oxygen mask along with my decendants for 40 million years, that we'd evolve faster then yours?

I almost hope the world lasts long enough to prove evolution wrong. Or at least that it magically stopped working. I doubt you'll wanna come back to a discussion, but I am pretty interested in the cambrian issue. As it dates back to almost the beginning, I would say that it is pretty important. I would think me questioning so much would help you educate yourself as well as me. You gonna take it up or not?

Whoa man did I strike a chord in you or what? Why do you keep trying to go back to God? We are not talking about magic or God here. We are discussing YOUR beliefs.

You told me oxygen was responsible for turning single celled organisms into complex organisms such as jelly fish. Is this what you believe? If so, how is oxygen responsible? Why do you suddenly feel uncomfortable talking about it? You state it's a fact which means there should be considerable evidence to prove your point. Either put out or get out, but don't change the subject.
At 12:49pm on November 24, 2009, eDDo said…
is that speculative or 100% fact? So a little extra oxygen took single celled organisms and turned them into complex multi cell creatures like jelly fish? That sounds a bit far fetched to me.

Also Lee strobel never claims to be a scientist who has all the answers. That is why he goes to great lengths to interview people in all different fields and ask them the tough questions.

I know what you mean about stuff getting lost in the forums. And if you ever want to ask me anything directly, I’m open for it.
As far as science goes, my field is microelectronics. I’ve been off the floor and out of the “lab” for a few years now, stuck in the realm of middle management. My dad was an electrical engineer so he had a lot of influence on where I’ve ended up. Not just with regards to science. He was ULTRA Catholic (like Mel Gibson Catholic). But he accepts my views and my doubt. Not just accepts it, he acknowledges it as him having done his job in instilling in me a sense of self and an ability to make my own decisions(even if they go against the beliefs of my family).
As far as other fields of science, many are thankfully founded in mathematics so I can usually get a general understanding. But to be honest, science was secondary to me as a youth. I actually left home to try to join a Seminary.
And I agree that nothing is fact, but there are degrees of truth which border a potential for being factual. Most of the people who work in science are of this opinion. What I said about humans causing climate change is a case where there is evidence presented and expounded upon, some is left to stand on its own merit. If you seek the answers, sometimes they don’t agree with your personal interpretation of fact.
Anyway, that’s my take on things. I’m glad you took the time to drop a line on my page. As you, I have no animosity towards anyone. If I seem harsh, it’s because I see that you have posted something that belies your intellect and potential. I’m really glad you’re man enough to respect my views and still put yours forward. And I will respect your views but don’t expect me to let you off lightly. You’re smarter than that.

Drop by any time if you want to chat or if you have some odd science question or even questions about faith. I'll always give you my honest answer. If I can’t answer it my brother probably can. And he owes me.

why do i keep saying you are not answering my questions? Because you aren't!

Think about it you pompous asshole. If you send me a video saying why creationists are stupid, do you think I'm gonna view it open minded? I'm not gonna watch 7 minutes of people slamming theists simply to get a point you couldn't articulate for yourself.

Also strobel was an investigative reporter. He was an atheist and was moved to seek answers by the dramatic change in his wife's life. If you read his book you would see how skeptical he really was.

Now if you would kindly explain the cambrian issue I would greatly appreciate it. At least copy paste

"i would reply to your questions but Thunderfoot answers your questions about this topic much better than i could."

wtf is this man? We were talking about something that I find very important to the discussion and you blow it off like that? How can you possibly answer for the cambrian explosion? Darwin himself admitted it was a huge problem.

So now it's 95%? Where did you get this number? Is it fact or your opinion as well?

Answer my questions about the cambrian explosion and we can talk. I'm discussing facts with you right now not opinions. Read my last post on the topic and reply to it if you have something to say. If not I'm taking it as you conceding.

"seriously dude its a fact its not my opinion its the opinion of every biologist on the face of the planet"

you really need to stop this. You exaggerate points to give strength to your argument. This is obviously not true and easy to prove you wrong. Read lee strobel's "case for a creator". He talks to scientists in each respective field regarding the issue. Even a biologist.

so you have no response to the kalam argument other than you don't believe it? that is not very logical. I thought we were gonna be open minded and talk about this. I didn't expect you to duck and dodge the hard issues.
At 5:49pm on October 21, 2009, eDDo said…
you may be listening but you are not getting it. I'll rephrase it a lil bit.

You are using a physical property of our universe to describe and confine that which created our universe. That law applies only to everything within our universe.
At 5:07pm on October 21, 2009, eDDo said…
You didn't pay attention to what I said about God. God is supernatural and cannot be described by our natural laws. The Kalam argument (the one we're discussing) has no effect on God.

"what about the space the universe is expanding into"

What makes you assume it's "space"? The fact that our fabric of reality (universe) is expanding leads one to believe there is nothingness outside of that.

"secondly time is a human construction"

Not in the way we're discussing it. Maybe calenders watches etc. But not philosophically.

"thirdly I did not say i believe it"

Then what do you believe?
At 4:31pm on October 21, 2009, eDDo said…
"your quote was based on false pretenses"

which part specifically do you disagree with?

"some stuff has just always been here"

This would imply that the universe is infinity old which is impossible. In order for us to have arrived at "today", existence has to of traversed over an infinite number of prior events to reach the present event.

That is more a philosophical argument but there are also scientific ones. Are you going against most of your scientific brotheren when saying the universe just always existed? Even most atheistic scientists won't argue that.
At 12:23pm on October 21, 2009, eDDo said…
Hey i didn't wanna clutter up the forum with another mindless Religion debate so i figured i'd hit your wall.

Here is an argument that I want to hear your reaction to. It's pretty simple

All that begins to exist had a cause
The universe began to exist
Therefore the universe had a cause

I'll take the thought from your head too. Who created God then? Well, one can't confine God to a box. He is supernatural. By that very definition that means the laws of our universe (all that begins had a cause) doesn't count for him. That is what makes him God.
