My prime choice for best British Director has to be Christopher Nolan.
Favourite actor is a bit more controversial but one of my favourite British actors has to be Sir Rowan Atkinson. And after that of course Christian Bale.

I think that a good video game movie can be made.
However, the way that the movie industry that is approaching video games is kind of strange. I think it is logical to conclude that when someone wants to transfer one medium of entertainment to another (books to film, video game to film) one must radically change a dynamic of the original material. Books are not screenplays, and video games are not screenplays. Thus, the writer of the film has to change some aspect of the original material to make it interesting for viewers.
I think if video game film directors placed more attention onto the script instead of the VFX, we can get thoughtful and interesting films. However, the film industry seems to believe that people are dazzled by expensive VFX and don't really care about the story. The problem with their philosophy is that people go to movies to see a story, not to watch something they could play at home.
What are your thoughts?
You make a great written sparing partner! You create great arguements (unlike some people on Spill.com). Anyways, it was very fun and interesting arguing about the books! =)
