Well, it' hard to define realyy because there is no story. :) It's about a guy who thinks he's dreaming and he meets all these interesting people that try to explain to him concept and theories from philosophy, psychology, sociology. It's kind of surreal, and I guess cheap in the way it just throws out ideas and doesn't give you anything to cling to in terms of story, characters etc but I like it. It's one of my top 3 Linklater movies.

well the universe is a big place... so there has to be more out there... haha... I've just never met anybody (including comic nerds) who's even heard of it... as soon as you mention DC Vertigo then next thing out of their mouth is Sandman... and its not like they read it... there's just a lot of lip service flying around for that series... I personally enjoyed The Invisibles as well... such a badass story... I'm definitely an anti-superhero kind of comic girl... I'm more into good characters and twisted stories... haha... I also enjoy manga smut from time to time for the same reason... vampires rock!

Oh you bet! Have you seen Waking life? it's directed by the same guy who did Scanner Darkly in the sam style animation, although in Waking Life it's a bit more stylized at times.

It just felt like a look at some annoying stoners more than a thoughtful sci-fi piece. The animation was (much like in Waking Life) extremely distracting and even the good performance (by RDJR of course) only served to pull me out of the movie because it seemed so out of place next to everyone else. It was...for lack of a better word...dull.
