Thanks for commenting on my blog about the Irate Gamer. It would not surprise me if being a gamer is just fake. His movie review seems as if he just watches other reviews and copies what they have to say. Like he has no originality at all.
Hey villain, I'm not sure if you will recheck the blog so I just decided to talk to you directly.
When I mean "Michael Corleone in Toon town" I'm talking about the seemingly strange juxtaposition of having a man who says that he is beyond redemption with a serious demeanor while 5 minutes later you're driving past the BAWSAQ. GTA IV isn't a bad game, it's just not as good as the previous incarnations. Oh, yes, there was great satire in the game (Loved the whole 'reevaluating district zones to keep minorities out' video game ad), but the tone just seemed schizophrenic not being able to choose what tone to take. I was also a little turned off by the inconsistent levels of comedy at one point there's poignant and intellectual jokes about our society, then the next one just deals with gay and penis jokes (And Rockstar really hasn't matured their portrayal of gays).
The reason why I chose these games was because they are the big dogs in the award ceremonies. I'm harsher on these games because games like Spore, Mirror's Edge, and Far Cry 2 have not received 10/10 (Or should I say 'glowing') reviews. Left 4 Dead was cut short of the list, it was #6.
And I actually disagree. Video Games has had there 'ultimate story'. GTA IV is one of them. I loved GTA's story especially with the underlying tones of a person's past always haunting them along with the idea that there is no such thing as a second chance. It's very mature and well done. It's the universe which it takes place in that makes me question the quality of the game. If you want to see intellectual pieces, Bioshock and Indigo Prophecy are two games I adore. If you want to look at games as art Okami, No More Heroes, and Psychonauts (funniest game ever) are right up your ally. You're right, no game is perfect, but then again, neither is any other piece of media or art. It's all in the eyes of the beholder.
I have to put the "4th kind " on the top of my list for the scariest movie. In the review it said it was fake footage. I would like to know how the author knew it was fake. With every ounce of my being, I hope it is fake. I saw a review on u-tube ...
