Green Zone not as good as The Hurt Locker

I recently watched Green Zone on DVD and can say without a doubt that it isn't the greatest movie.  However, it isn't a horrible movie either.  Matt Damon plays a believable character by the name of…Continue

Should I buy the 2 disk edition DVD of District 9?  Is it worth the extra few bucks?

Why is Oliver Stone making a sequel?  I really like the 1980s original.  At least it will be directed by the same person.

Hot Tube Time Machine - Who loved it?/Hated it?

I saw this on the weekend and really enjoyed myself.  In a nutshell, it's about middled aged guys with shitty lives who wish they could go back in time to their college days.  I laughed a lot.  While…Continue

Green Zone not as good as The Hurt Locker

I recently watched Green Zone on DVD and can say without a doubt that it isn't the greatest movie.  However, it isn't a horrible movie either.  Matt Damon plays a believable character by the name of Roy Miller who sets out to find the truth about WMD in Iraq.  The problem with the movie is not being quite as real as The Hurt Locker.  In fact, the two are in slightly different genres.  The Hurt Locker is a movie about individuals and is character driven.  Green Zone on the other hand appears to…See More

Taxi Drive

A few weeks ago I picked up the two disk DVD of Taxi Driver.  I think this is one of the best movies I have ever seen.  I can relate to the character so well and the movie is such a character driven film.  Movies that follow that criteria are usually better than films which do not.  Die Hard is an example of this where the audience can relate to John McClain eaisly. What I loved about the film is that 95% of the movie is setting up the main character in order to explain the ending.  It's what I…See More

Hot Tube Time Machine - Who loved it?/Hated it?

I saw this on the weekend and really enjoyed myself.  In a nutshell, it's about middled aged guys with shitty lives who wish they could go back in time to their college days.  I laughed a lot.  While my Dad laughed I was surprised when he said he didn't like it as a movie.  Ok, so it didn't make total sense, but its comedy.  I was just glad to see a comedy where it remains funny throughout unlike some movies where the comedy is all in the trailer.  I'll be surprised to see a better comedy this…See More

An unusual 'out of the box' director who could also appeal to the masses (even if they miss the point most of the time).

Enjoy his movies, esp 2001 a space oddysey
