Just saw a Thai movie called Powerkids... it's pretty stock, but the muay thai is awesome!
Also, a pretty cool one called Fireball.... It's pretty badly made, but I love the idea. It's basically a basketball film with fighting thrown in hahaha If they made it with some old skool hip hop on the soundtrack, could've been awesome. Have them fighting over the ball, while Run DMC or Beastie Boys blares out over somebody's ghetto blaster haha
stuff's in the mail! it may take a while getting to you though. the lady at the post office said something about a strike but it kinda went in one ear and out the other. well, wither way, a bundle of comics should be with you soon... hopefully.
it took me a while to get into lone wolf. all the japanese jargon made it a little impenetrable at first but once i got over it, it was a blast. it's pretty as hell and has got some of the worst parenting i've ever seen. i'm kinda curious to see how it can keep it up for 30+_ volumes though.
um, did you send the rough story boards? i've been kinda out of the loop for the last couple of days so i may have missed that. if you can't find the time may i propose we meet up some time with a copy of the script and go through it? it would have to be in a week or two though 'cause i'm bigging it up in edinburgh for the foreseeable future. speaking of, that means i'm going to miss you this time round. CURSES!
Oh yeah... Sorry, the budget was -- I think somewhere between 5 & 7 grand. I didn't really have much of a look-in in that department. I was pretty lucky though, the director wanted to make the version I wanted and what you see is almost exactly what I had imagined, after showing him a few drawings I did of certain scenes. A lot of writers don't get that kind of treatment, so I was counting my blessings!!!
I'd love to see some of your stuff sometime! What kind of things do you make? Your list of favourite films are really broad, so it's hard to tell what in particular takes your fancy. That's a good thing, I suppose.
Well, yeah, it led to some other work, but nothing really notable. I made some good friends out of it, who are always willing to read my scripts, so that's something I suppose.
It's not something I was 100% sure I wanted anyway, I was just a guy who had a few ideas, who loves movies.
I'm still trying, over here. My ideas are kind of kooky, so Japan seems the perfect place for them.
As for seeing my film online, well... Here it is.
Awesome man, you're a filmmaker! I tried that for a while, made a short for channel 4 a few years ago, but everything I tried to do since fell through. I'd go to Screen West Midlands, but it's like dealing with the fuckin' mafia.
I don't know how wide release High Kick Girl is getting, but I think it'll be out for a few weeks before it goes to DVD. It happens a lot here. Films are made on the cheap & just churned out. It's kind of cool in a way, because it allows almost anyone with the equipment to make a film. (In a lot of cases a decent script isn't even required!)
Yeah, do yourself a favour & read the book of A Clockwork Orange, then watch the film (as soon after as you can) Kubrick is perfect.
Awesome man, where did you find that trailer? I'm so in love with that girl.
There's another film coming out here called "High Kick Girl." Looks kinda cheap, but it might be alright. Apparently, it's a Karate movie that uses real moves instead of flashiness. I dunno, sounds like bullshit to me.
I just bought A Clockwork Orange on blu ray. God damn, that film burned images in my mind I can't shake off.
How you been anyway man? It's been a while since we last shot the shit.
so guess who finally managed to find some time to finish of those two lone wolf and cub books you lent out fuck know's how long ago?
holy crap, sorry for holding onto those for so long. i was going to mail them off the second i got through volume 2 but then i realized i had no idea which y trades you were due. uh, i know it's been a while but can you remeber where you were?
t in the park is a music festival and god damn is it awesome. managed to catch a tone of great acts (with the exception of being dragged to lady gaga's set but i've gotta say, she certainly puts on a show... and some of the most insane costumes you've ever seen).
i'm making a start on those story boards this week. scout's honour (it was just the first four pages you wanted, right?)
give us a shout if you're going to be in london any time soon. prehapse we can catch another shockingly shite movie?
Well mate, I don't think Rushmore will blow you away & have you screaming to the hills, but I think it's just this cool as shit little film that I can watch over and over again.
It's really different to a lot of stuff that came out around that time (though it's been copied since)
Yeah! I have Marioworld, it's soooooooooooooooo good, but I'm not as good at it as I was when I was 10 haha... I'm now playing Contra 3 (which was released as Probotector in the UK... That game kicks so much ass.
I never played the PS2 version of Altered Beast. I heard they changed the setting & fucked the whole thing up.
I just bought a SNES on Sunday!!!! Except it's called the Super Famicom here . It only cost the equivalent of a tenner hahaha awesome.
I watched the 1st half of Jet Li's Fearless last night.... Meh... I like the fight in the Tea house, but it's not all that my friends made it out to be.
