Sci Fi channel's cliched, formulaic crap series

There's a new series that's appeared recently on the Sci Fi channel called Defiance. The main character is the sheriff in a ravaged post apocalyptic town with a rebellious alien adopted daughter. There's an honourable, female mayor (love interest, I have no doubt), an alien gangster, a bigoted (against aliens) human mine owner, the gangster's son and the mine owner's daughter who love each other. The token black guy in this one is the deputy. In the series, the sheriff heroically solves the…See More

I've just landed a nice job working for a Software House selling solutions to Telecoms providers. It's hard work with over four hours commuting each day but I'm loving it.Hopefully I'll be heading out to Miami to spend time providing consultancy to a Cable company in the New Year if any Spillios are in the area and want to meet up.Since I now work in Central London and have season tickets if I'm in the UK for the next London meet I'll try to make it.See More

Jeremy Clarkson claims airport delays could be solved with 'a bit of racism'

The BBC Top Gear presenter claimed that the long delays at Heathrow border control were because immigration officials were no longer allowed to use their discretion to wave certain passengers through. He said: “Nobody is waved through any more. The result is plain for all to see. There’s a two-hour wait.“And the problem is: the only possible solution is to introduce a bit of racism.”He added: “Nobody likes a racist. Nobody likes prejudice. It has no place at work, at play, or in government.“But…See More

I recommended Game of Thrones to my parents.....

..... and at this point I'm wondering if that was a good idea.*** Spoilers ***Obviously there's been sex, violence and horror in Season 1. But in the second season all three appear to have been ramped up.Episode 2 contained back to back sex scenes at one point as well as Theon's horse ride with his sister.Episode 4 definately moved firmly into horror bordering on torture porn, and not being a fan of that genre I found some of the scenes quite unpleasant.I'm hoping the quality of the characters…See More

I'm sick of the bullshit in the media regarding the current recession

All I hear from the media is bankers this and bankers that like they're the main cause of the current economic slump. While they haven't helped they're more another symptom. The driving reason is the price of energy, specifically oil.The global financial systems are built on the paradigm of infinate growth, rather like a pyramid scheme. This was fine throughout most of the 20th century but today it's no longer possible. This is because world oil production has peaked and is now in permanent…See More

Soundtracks that bring a movie down

I watched Catwoman on TV for the first time last night and predictably hated it. It seemed like a bad chick-flick disguised as a superhero movie. But the thing that continuously irritated throughout the whole thing was the soundtrack. The vocals were the type of soul where the female vocalist makes irritating noises rather than actually singing which sounded like an incessant moaning to me. You know, whoooo-oohhhhhh-whoooo--oooooo-whoooo-neeeee-air. At times she sounded like she was in pain…See More

Pixies are also one of my favorite bands of all time. Lucky! I was hoping to catch them live in London, but unfortunately that didn't happen; mainly because of my miserable planning skills. Hey, that's a great song! I even prefer it over the original version.

Haha, they sound adorable! I also have a 15-year-old cat at home. Kitty is an indoor cat and very healthy for her age. She does get a little moody at times, but I suppose that's nothing unusual; her joints aren't quite what they used to be.

A broccoli-eating cat? Hah, I must say that Tamdy has very strange eating habits! My cat is completely obsessed with grass though, but I think that's actually normal.

Doolittle is such a fantastic album!

Yes! Both shows are great. I can't wait for the Doctor Who Christmas Special; and Fringe just keeps getting better and better with every single episode. The third season has been pretty much perfect entertainment so far.
