The Great Movie Quest Review of " Citizen Kane" by O. Wells (mild spoilers)

In all of my years of Cinephillia, it boggles my mind as to how 1941's " Citizen Kane" eluded my viewing. Of course I had read about it, so many essay's and reviews about Orson Wells' masterpiece that it felt like I had seen it multiple times. I have taken three or four film classes between high school and college, but those classes always revolved around a particular director's films (Hitchcock for example). Thank God for Netflix.Sitting down to it with a copy of Roger Ebert's " the Great…See More

Up: A review

It's been almost 15 years since a little animation studio called Pixar brought us a movie called Toy Story, and if anyone ever told me that in 15 years, over 10 movies, along with countless short films, that Pixar would never make a bad movie, I would have scoffed. Every Pixar film that has been released has been met with the same critical and audience acclaim ( some less then others, but still popular). The trend continues with " Up", Pixar's most mature movie to date." Up" starts off simple…See More

Angels & Demons: A Review

Author Dan Brown is no stranger to controversy. The Author of "The DaVinci Code", "The Digital Fortress", the upcoming " The Solomon Key" and " Angels and Demons" has been shown his fair share of disdain by not only the devout, but by his fellow authors, for taking his books too seriously.Director Ron Howard seemingly dived head first into that same pool of controversy while tackling the movie version of " The Da Vinci Code" in 2006, and upon it's release, was greeted with the same amount of…See More

The Great Movie Quest Review of Vertigo by A Hitchcock. ( Beware Spoilers!)

ht

Its the first day of The Great Movie Quest and while my intention was to start off with Citizen Kane, It did not get here from netflix in time, so I settled for my second choice, Vertigo. Settled however, is the wrong word to describe this movie however, mainly because its a brilliant film.

Jimmy Stewart plays a detective named Scottie Ferguson who after watching a man fall to…

The Great Movie Quest

Here it comes, the long hot days of summer and I have thought carefully about what I could try to accomplish in the days, weeks, and months to come. I think I have come up with an idea that will most likely take up my time for the rest of the year. However, if I complete this task, I will have expanded my knowledge of cinema and my love for the art for then I could ever imagine. Im writing this because, Dear Film Lover, I want you to join me, and together, maybe we can learn something. So I… Continue

Summer TV

Hey there kids,

With the rising temperatures comes the end of the tv seasons for many shows. Sure there are some great summer shows like Burn Notice or Wipeout but unless you are a reality tv fan, the summer months are a barren wasteland, much like Lady Gaga's talent. So what to do is this time of limited entertainment? Think of this as a chance to get caught up on some shows that may have eluded you in the past. Every Summer I pick a few shows to watch in their entirety.…

My thoughts on Iron Man 2. ( Spoilers)

So there is this little movie called Iron Man 2 coming out... ever heard of it? No? Just me then. Ok.

The much hyped and (perhaps) overly so sequel has been out for 24 hours now. What was right with it? Alot. What was wrong with it? A little more then I expected. But I'm jumping ahead of myself.

Once again Robert Downey Jr shows us that he was born to play the role of Tony Stark. Lets face it the guy is flat…

Well, it may affect the last movie, but WB better sway the masses soon. Apparently a lot of HP fans are already really, really pissed plus for the U.S., last weeks entertainment weekly had Radcliffe on the cover with a full article inside and the hype machine for this train is already rollin out (I also believe empire mag had some articles very recently too).
