I'll check with Leon to see if we can bring it up in the news section of the next ep.
Why does Harry always look like such a goofus...
I think that what happened is that the Oscars are looking for a "Younger Audience" to keep their ratings up or else be taken off the air as a "Live-show" and instead be shown edited down.
Because they are looking for that "Younger Audience", they listened to everyone complain about the "biggest movies" being left out of the nominations, and upped the number to 10 this year. The only problem was that you could then turn and look at the 5 nominations for Best Director and sort of automatically know that the movie that got Best Picture and Best Director nominations were the "favorites" to win. When you see the "other 5" that didn't get Best Director nominations... you sort of knew right away that those 5 were just there to "fill in the gaps" to keep people happy that the "Popular/Successful" film was nominated and not because it deserved to be nominated.
It's why I was against the reports of the Oscars increasing their number to 10 nominations. I knew right away that they would include movies that didn't even have an honest chance to win.
BTW- Your screenname is nervously close to my AOL IM name.
But when it comes to changing the WAY films are made? Well, not as much as I do Star Wars. lol
