The Little Guys: Episode 4 - "Doll Face"

Utilizing simple special effects, up-and-coming filmmaker Andrew Huang brings us this great metaphoric short film. It's one of those films that's so simple, yet it drives home the point effectively while delivering a touching story.Enjoy. See More

The Little Guys - Episode 3: "World Builder"

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm late posting this again, but by less than an hour and it was all because I was busy seeing a late-night showing of "Daybreakers" (good flick, go see it).Today's short film, I've known about and been a fan of for quite a while. World Builder was shot in one 16 hour shooting day with only two actors against nothing, but greenscreen and spent 2 years in post-production and if you ask me, it was all worth the wait.It became so popular online that there are now possibilities of…See More

The Little Guys - Episode 1: "Xenogenesis"

Let's face it. Mondays suck. So I've decided that every Monday, I will post a short film that will hopefully brighten up the worst day of the week for you. That's not my only reason though. I'm a little guy in terms of the filmmaking world. We deserve a little credit damn it, so hopefully this will gain the filmmakers we don't know a little exposure. That's not to say that I won't feature short films made by famous directors before they were famous though. No, sir. We need to see those because…See More

James Cameron Gets Harrassed by "Fan"

TMZ posted a video of James Cameron getting into a heated argument with a fan. The thing is - this guy was no fan and James knew it.Watch the video below before we continue to discuss: Pretty brutal, huh? After I watched the video for the first time, I thought, "Man. James Cameron needs to respect the fans a little more.".... And then I watched it again.First off - the "fan" in this video isn't actually a fan. He collects autographs on merchandise and sells them for thousands of dollars on…See More

Avatar 2 is Coming!

Ain't It Cool News is reporting that at a recent Variety Screening Series showing of Avatar at the Arclight, James Cameron, during the post-Q&A, officially said, "Yes, there'll be another."

Cameron said before Avatar came out that he planned it as the first in a trilogy and it makes sense to make the other two now being that Avatar is officially only second to Titanic in terms of worldwide gross.

With rumors of the story for the sequel having something to do with… Continue

"... not so disappointed to say that I hate it... just glad I saw it." Exactly how I feel. Great eye candy and it was cool seeing Kevin Spacey as the bad guy. If I had to choose someone other than Gene Hackman, I probably would have chosen Spacey too. He's the only casting choice I was happy with. He's pretty good at balancing menace and playfulness at the same time.

Yeah, the Superman Character is really a "over the top" type of character that will be best suited for an "unknown actor" than some named star. Look at how much Christopher Reeves Superman is still revered through the industry. In fact, because he was so unknown at the time everyone thought that he was a bad pick... only to be so intertwined with the character that DC later redrew the character to closer match Reeves himself.

And yeah, Singer's Superman was a tough one for me. I liked some parts and hated others. As a whole I was disappointed, but not so disappointed to say that I hate it... just glad I saw it.

I think maybe that's the key issue all along.

That with Batman, Nolan (Both of them) and Goyer were actually pushing to take the job. They actually wanted to do the movies. Hell, they did sign Christopher Nolan to 3 films after all, so you KNOW that he was eager to take the movie only if they would give him three films to do.

But with Superman, it doesn't feel like Nolan (Both of them again) are really wanting it. It's more that WB is pushing it on them, and basically saying "Here, do this one too." And that is where I'm worried that things might not go as well as they did with Batman did. When they wanted to do the Batman movies, they sort of had a plan, and a concept of what they wanted.

Now that Superman is being pushed on them, do the Nolans really WANT to do the movie, or is it because WB is just paying them XXX amount to take it on?

All I know, is that I want a GOOD Superman movie, and I hope that whoever takes over Superman can deliver a GOOD one.... but at the same time I want the guy who directs it to WANT to make a Superman movie too. We saw with Batman and with Iron Man, when the director WANTS to make the movie it works.

I guess what I was attempting to do with the "points" was to show that I'm not bashing on the Nolans specifically as film-makers, so much as bashing on WB's handling of the Superman movies.

Like you said, as long as it doesn't follow Superman Returns, I'm happy too. I didn't like that particular story line, nor the way that the character was handled. And while I think that Routh is an okay actor (Neither horrible, nor great... but just okay), he was sort of given a role that didn't fit him and he did as good as he could with what he had.

And in a way, I guess that's the proper way to say it in regards to the director (Whoever it may be). That WB is going to give them this particular Superman movie, and they are going to have to make it as good as it can be with all the restrictions placed on them.

I think that the reason there is some "concern" about the Superman movie, is the issues behind the scenes.

1) Court ordered movie to start production to avoid further legal issues. So it's being "rushed" by WB.
2) Origins story for Superman would mean paying additional royalties to people. So a full "Reboot" may (or may not) happen.
3) Can't continue the Superman Returns storyline as that is Bryan Singer's property due to the writing credits. So continuity is a problem.
4) Routh's contract has expired, so another round of casting..or negotiations to get him back. That is of course only if he WANTS to come back after the reception of Superman Returns.
5) Spacey's contract has expired, so same as above. And of course, that's only IF they want to include Luther.. which a lot of people are getting tired of seeing in ever Superman film.
6) Christopher/Jonah Nolan... is this the right fit for writer and director for a Superman character? (Momento, The Prestige, Dark Knight, Insomnia... do these have the "feel" for Superman? Because they will have to go a completely different direction than their prior movies, which might or might not work.) So while talented film-makers, are they really the right people?

Awesome, hey I'm working on a music video and I was wondering if you knew how to drop in a shot after another scene? Kinda hard to explain, but I'll try to give you an example.

It's all calm around 3:00-3:25 but say at 3:26-3:27 I want to abruptly drop in another shot from above how would i do that?

Hey Ryan, quick question. In your "Reflections" film, mostly on the bike scene, did you use the green screen or were those actual camera shots? because those angles are fantastic and I'm not that much of a cameraman.
