I just graduated from uni so I'm nowhere yet mate. Until I do my Master's Degree next year I'm just working to get some experience and make contacts. Like you I want to be a director and script writer some day but if I want to make it in the movie business I have to start at the bottom and over time work my way up the ladder. That trailer was just the first thing I worked on, so I've done a few other things since then, tv shows, adverts, music videos and films.
Basically a Production Assistant is a glorified runner. I help out from looking after the equipment, extras, actors, delivering packages to just being a tea boy. It's a thankless job but you learn alot and every now again you get to do some cool things. Like in that film I personally lit a scene which was pretty cool.
That's cool that your 13 and really passionate about doing film. If all you think about is film there should be no reason why you can't make it into that profession. My advice to you is to do what I'm doing, start off as a runner but do it for free first, just until you get enough experience on your CV before you start looking for paid work. That's the jist of it because you don't need to know all the details now. My biggest advice is make as many movies as possible. You can only learn how to make films by actually making them.
Take it easy mate,
Nick
Hey mate,
Thanks for being so mature about it. I'm glad you understand how difficult it was for me to say that. But when you get older, there's no reason why you can't come. In fact I wouldn't be surprised next time around you'll be organizing the Spill Party. Personally I think this will be a one off for me, let someone else deal with it next time hahahahah.
The call in show went all right, however most of the people who phoned couldn't get their mics to work which was annoying. But it was cool meeting some of the people coming, I'm going to do another sometime this week but I don't know when.
Take it easy bruv,
Nick
Hey mate, I've been thinking alot about how old you are and I don't think it's gonna work out. See you're 13 and you want to socialize with a large group of adults. I don't know how's it going with your mum but I've got a little brother who's 12 and I wouldn't want him to hang out with a bunch of adults he met off the internet. I had to fight just to get the 16 and 17 year olds to be in Peachy Keen where the main party is going to be. I've asked all the the 16 year olds to bring older people with them but I can't guarantee that they are gonna be accepted as well. I know it doesn't sound that there isn't much difference between 13 and 16 but there is mate. At the pub I was told that there is a change in the law stating that underage people can come as long as they don't drink but the people he is with (i.e US) can't drink either. Can you see the problems caused by that. I know you're thinking, how come the 16 year olds can come and the reason is that they won't raise as much suspicion from the pub staff if they keep to themselves than a 13 year old would. What it boils down to mate, is that if they see underage people with a group of adults who are drinking, they are going to ask two things. Either the underage people leave or all of us leave, and the latter part is not going to happen mate, I'm sorry. Because at the end of they day we can't be held responsible for you. Maybe in a few years when we have another spill party you might be old enough to come. I'm really sorry mate

About Me:
My name is Richard Shah, I am from the U.K., and I have many different interests and views in and on a range of subjects.
My three ambitions in life are as follows, from most to least significant:
- Horror/Drama Film Directing - I've always wanted to create dramatic and horrific stories that people could view, enjoy and appreciate as mordern film. I believe horror films have become too unrealistic and too crap, and so I want to use elements of both new and old horror films to produce a film that people will want to watch after generations of its release.
- Patholagy - For the majority of my life, Forensic Science and Patholagy (the study of why death occured in a person; i.e. forensic science with dead bodies). I love science and if I fail to become a film director, then Patholagy is something that is worth more than ten years of training for, and so I will definitely take it as a career.
- Business - Very broadly set as a potential ambition; I really enjoy looking at finance and business, so it may be something I will choose as a career.
-------------------- CURRENT FILMS ----------------------
Caller - In the memory of my father, Kaushik Shah. Details on the film plot are yet to be made publicly available.
However, I can reveal that the script is due for major work and completion this summer, casting later on and filming some time in the foreseeable future (2009, most likely).
Dziadek (Jadek) - In the memory of my grandparents, who died in the late April and early May of this year (2008). Also to the grandparents I never got to know, as they died when my dad was in his early teens.
Mainly horrors and dramas. I dislike a lot of its modern media though, espwecially how such films are directed and what SFX are applied.
I WANT TO CHANGE THAT.
The Green Mile; Various horror films like 'The Excorcist', The Ring Series (Japanese, the first American one was relatively amusing and second one has yet to be watched, but I heard the director is the same as the Jap series for that film!), as of now One Missed Call (the US version, have yet to see the Jap.) and possibly The Chakushin Ari series (the original Jap. series of One Missed Call). Midnight Express is quite wicked, and so is The Count of Monte Cristo. More to come when I think of them!
All Time Worst Movies:
Will think some up soon! ;)
All Romantic films in general and chick-flicks.
Favorite Actors or Actresses:
I think Lopez is quite a good actor; Eva Mendes; Morgan Freeman; Will Smith; Jim Carrey... and a lot more.
I hate Tom Cruise; he pisses me off so much!
Favorite Directors:
Spielberg; Wes Craven; and others when I remember their names :)
This group is for the planning of a Spill get together and party in May of 2010. New York, Jersey, D'ware, Maryland Dc and beyond. Let's hook up in the city it all started.

People often ask me how many times I see a movie before reviewing it, and with rare exceptions the answer is "Just once." But a week and a half after I saw Sherlock Holmes, I found that the film had all but disappeared from my m…
