you know I would, it's been a while since I've seen any stand up of merit but i'm afraid it'd be too much like his comedy verhicle show and i've seen all the episodes of that like twice and it just looses it's hilarity after that. but he does crack me up I remember the days of richard not judy or lee and herring, absolute classics. but thanks for the advice man I shal ponder it further.
Hey, thanks, Raoul. I really like chatting about movies, and of course opinions differ, but LOVE learning about
new titles, movies, music, shows , etc. I just appreciate the fact some of you bothered to read my forum topics and replied, so I always try to comment back. Thanks again, appreciate the comment.
Yeah, I think after the Dare album went large in the U.K. charts, they finally discovered by the U.S. That's when New Wave sort of burst on the scene for us. Thanks for pointing out those docos. I'll give them a look.
Don't get me wrong. I didn't think Van Cleef was a bad actor. I loved him in this as well as those Zapata movies. I meant bad as in Good (Eastwood), Bad (Van Cleef), Ugly (Ely Wallach). Their roles in the movie.
And I'l let you in on a little secret. When my mother asked my grandfather for a name for me, he chose Lee. It wasn't until later that she found out it was for Lee Van Cleef and Lee Marvin.
Yeah... I'm stretching, right. But that's my only negative response when I watch the film. Why could Italians capture the essence of the “Old West” mythos better than those who have been making movies in the genre since E.S. Porter? What were the creative restrictions which limited filmmakers in those years since The Great Train Robbery and are those limits still imposed today in other genres (what are we missing out on)? I know that the movie isn’t necessarily historically accurate, but as I said, it conveys the deeply rooted mythology of the Wild West. I’d wager there are Scots who feel the same when Braveheart is lauded as the best film about Scotland's past. Since I find the movie itself (due to a combination of superior technical filmmaking, admiration of the actors, and what I term Grandpapistic Nostalgia) I have to seek fault beyond the bounds of what is viewed and into what is felt.
I can't really comment on Angleheart. It's been so long since I've seen it that I sort of forgot about it. I know that I wasn't really into it that much when I did see it, but that was some years ago. Maybe I should track it down and give it another look.
