Rare Review: The Cabin in the Woods

Plot Synopsis:“Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods.”Taken from the film’s IMDB page, that synopsis is all that you should know before watching Cabin in the Woods. Without being facetious, I almost want to say “just go see the movie. Trust me on this,” as it would be a crime to spoil any one of this film’s surprises. That being said, it’s time to rise up to…See More

Rare's 10 Worst Movies of 2010

10. Saw 3DA film that barely manages to make this list, Saw 3D is the movie that a small part of me feels a bit reluctant towards even mentioning here, as I, admittedly, consider myself a fan of this series. As ridiculously labyrinthine as the plot had become, I had been more than mildly interested as to how it would all pan out, as the filmmakers assured fans that they had a plan set out in terms of how they wanted to end the series. Too bad that that plan entailed having a series of subplots…See More

Rare Review: Tangled

Synopsis:“The classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale gets a lavish CG makeover as directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno team up to tell the tale of a fair-haired beauty (voiced by Mandy Moore) with long-flowing locks, a gallant hero with a heart of gold, and the evil witch who plots to keep these lovelorn innocents apart.”With John Lasseter having gained creative control over the studio several years ago now, it’s more than fair to say that Walt Disney Animation has become a force to be reckoned…See More

Jason Statham and Jet Li co-star alongside the brawny filmmaker as a group of mercenaries who undertake a near-impossible operation to overthrow a dictator in South America. Rare Review: The Other Guys

Plot Synopsis:“NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson and P.K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City. They don’t get tattoos – other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You’ve seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They’re not heroes – they’re ‘the Other Guys.’ But every cop has his or…See More

Glad to see one of us is back in the reviewing business. I'll probably pass on Clash of the Titans but I'll hopefully get to see How to Train Your Dragon next week when I see Kick-Ass.

Happy Thanksgiving dude. Have you gotten to chek out Fantastic Mr. Fox yet? I plan to review after seeing it tommorrow and would like to hear your own opinion on it if you intend to.

When Linda Hamilton performed lines for Sarah Connor in Terminator Salvation, I believe her comment in an interview was something along the lines of, "As far as I'm concerned, it ended well with the second installment but there's always someone that wants to milk it for what it's worth". I figure you could pretty much apply that to Saw (with the possible exception of extending it to the third installment). Either way, I'll be curious to check it out.

So was Carlyle actually right? Does this Saw actually redeem the last 2 failures of the series? It's almost too hard to believe.

Sorry for getting back to you late on your comment, I've just been overloaded with term papers for the last month that I haven't even been able to sign in.

To answer your question, I usually tend to see everything, I just prefer to choose my reviews carefully. I only review a current release if I've seen it within a week, otherwise, I feel like the impact of reviewing is gone, since by a week's time you should typically know what you want to see. So when I don't review something, it usually means that for some reason or another, I missed it on opening weekend (Harry Potter 6, GI Joe, 9, etc.).

Unfortunately, my college campus doesn't have a decent theater around for about 10 miles and I lack a car so I may be a bit limited in movie watching. Next chance I get however, I do intend to see '9' and regardless of where I can find a decent theater, I'm going to review "Avatar" if it kills me. I'll be back in action soon enough.
