I think it's backfiring like Hannah Montana. The more producers try to target the preteen/teen market, the more they alienate their fanbase. Now, for a "real" vampire series, watch "True Blood." I am a big fan of the author and the series, thought at times it goes into left field with the original story, is worth the watch.

Because it simply feeds into that deeply hidden need of females to find that one guy that has a "Darker side, but is so willing to change everything about himself for me" type of mentality. There's nothing more than that. The movie/book does nothing but feed into their fantasy that a guy will never be "Loveable" unless he completely has his entire world changed by a female.
