A Dark Triumph - A Review of "The Dark Knight" (Written July 21, 2008)

Without a doubt, "The Dark Knight" is a definite turning point in the comic book film genre. What truly separates this film from other comic book films is that it harkens back to its darker roots:…Continue

"The Fantastic Antichrist"

When the film first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, the reception, for the most part, was negative, to borderline hostility. For those, who haven't seen the film, the reason why the film was not so well received, was the film's use of ultra violent scenes and the like. The reception to the film was so negative, that the jury decided to invent an ecumenical award for the most obscene…See More

"Sucker Punch-Drunk Love"

Now, before going on with this review, I would first like to state that this had to be one of the more frustrating theatrical experiences in a long while. The reason for saying this was that the director had obviously had something personal to say with this film—which had vanity project written ALL over it! For those that are not in the know, the director that I…See More

Iron Man 2: When Will Marvel Learn?

WHEN WILL MARVEL  LEARN, SERIOUSLY...?                      Since the release of “The Dark Knight,” (I know, I know, but I do have a point to this.) the overall paradigm on how these films are made have changed forever; not in tonal terms, but it changed on how filmmakers should approach major comic book brands to capture the essence on what the source material have been able to achieve. For those who are into comic books, Iron Man was considered to be a B-list character in the Marvel…See More

What a Fucking Nightmare- A Review of NOES (2010)

Let’s face the essential fact that Freddy Kruger is one of the most well-known cinematic pop culture icons EVER. As a matter of fact, the first film that ever saw, and it still gives me scares to this day, was the original Wes Craven classic. Now when word reached my ear that Platinum Dunes—Michael Bay’s production company—would be slated to develop and release the film under the New Line Studio’s banner, I was really upset. After a considerable amount of time, I slowly came to the realization…See More

Franchise "Terminated" - A Review of Terminator Salvation

If there any other films to include in the summer film schedule that might be worth watching, Terminator: Salvation is definitely not the film to check out on any day of the week. Before moving on with the review, I would like to note that I did have some hope that this film will be okay; as a pallet-cleanser to the box-office disaster of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Before seeing this film for the first time, I was disappointed in the films rating: a PG-13 rating instead of a restricted rating,…See More

Omnishit: A Review of "New York, I Love You"

Look, I commend our American counterparts for attempting for making an anthology film about the day in the life of a New Yorker. My problem with it is that the film makers try so fucking hard to pander to the hip crowd--trying to be cool and cleaver for the sake of being cool and cleaver, which is annoying, really annoying. One flaw that this film has is that none of the stories move beyond the confines of Manhattan, which is a true misrepresentation of what the true spectrum: Harlem, Brooklyn,…See More

About Me:
Hello members of the Spill community, my name is Octavius Lunacy, but you guys can call me "Lunatic." Ever since I was four years old, I fell in love with movies, I just love to watch and talk about movies. The film that did it for me was Richard Donner's "Superman," which is something that I revisit time and time again. The film that brought back that joyous feeling was Chris Nolan's "The Dark Knight."
All Time Favorite Movies:
Superman: The Movie, The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Rings, Kiru, Blade Runner (every single version), 2001: A Space Odyssey,
Synecdoche New York, A Colt is My Passport, Mon Uncle,
Sergeant Kabukiman, The Godfather (parts I & II), The Star Wars Trilogy (not the shitty ass pathetic prequels that George Lucas contrived), Pulp Fiction, High Plains Drifter, Rooster Cogburn, Blue Velvet, Pan's Labyrinth, El Espinazo del Diablo, REC, Habla con Ella, Tokyo Joe,
Gin Wai, Thin Red Line, Days of Heaven, Casino, Taxi Driver, Babel,
