The one thing I was most happy to find in 50/50 was heart. Making a comedy about a guy who gets cancer is kind of risky, especially when you put Seth Rogen in a significant role. You don’t want to focus too much on the laughs while completely glossing over the seriousness of cancer. Writer Will Reiser does a fantastic job coming up with a perfect balance of gut-busting laughs and truly sincere characters to feel for. Fright Night is a film that doesn’t waste any time. Right at the opening we get a great scene to set the tone of the film, and then the rest of the movie just sort of follows through. Every bit of clichéd build up is taken care of in the first act of the film so that the second and third acts can just get down to business and do its thing. Zack Snyder is an interesting director. I definitely think he's a very talented individual with a very good eye for the craft. 300, WATCHMEN, GUARDIANS and SUCKER PUNCH all have a very unique visual style and are all very well made films. The first trailer to BATTLE: LOS ANGELES was sheer brilliance. It showed very little, just some pretty amazing scenes and a very effective song over it. 50/50 is one of the best films of the year.

FRIGHT NIGHT doesn't waste any time to start being awesome.
